❗️Pretty smelly but it works well
Just going to put this note at the top here since all the reviews are commenting on this products horrid smell… this is normal! Yes it smells horrible, most probiotics do. But it’s so worth it. ✅ Researched Nutritionals is always my go to brand for high quality supplements, and RenewGut Thrive seems mostly great. This formula combines gut barrier support with postbiotics like pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila and tributyrin. It’s pricey.. but designed for serious support in maintaining digestive and immune health, which I needed. Because my body is so sensitive and I react easily to many ingredients I did a lot of research before trying this. 💊 so here’s the Ingredient Breakdown: • Hydrolyzed Collagen Peptides (Type I & III) – I found that these provide amino acids like glycine and proline to help maintain gut lining integrity. Well studied in skin and joint health, and increasingly explored for digestive lining support. I was disappointed to discover that Sourced collagen is not organic (few animal products are). • N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine (NAG) – A structural compound found in the body’s mucosal tissues. Supports the intestinal lining. It’s usually shellfish-derived, so avoid if you have a shellfish allergy. • GutGard (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice) – I found this really interesting.. This extract supports mucosal tissue and has antioxidant activity without the blood pressure-spiking glycyrrhizin. It’s gentle for most people but I found it to still be mildly stimulating, so if you’re sensitive or prone to blood pressure issues and cortisol issues like me, just use caution and discuss with your doctor first. • Zinc Carnosine- I learned this is a combination of zinc and the amino acid carnosine, often used to support the stomach lining and plays a role in maintaining the integrity of digestive tissues. I think this component has been so helpful for me so far.❗but if you’re at risk of copper deficiency like me, using this long-term might affect that balance. • Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) – I read this has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, but if you’re sensitive to seeds or nightshades, consider introducing it slowly. I tolerated this well thankfully other than some nausea at first. • Luteolin – I found this was a powerful flavonoid that can help support immune balance and calm overactive responses. Some research suggests potential benefits for nervous system and mast cell support. • Tributyrin (CoreBiome) – I learned this is a postbiotic compound that delivers butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that plays a role in gut integrity and immune regulation. Unlike sodium butyrate, this form reaches deeper into the colon. Some people notice temporary gas when first using it. • Akkermansia muciniphila (Pasteurized) – I read this is a naturally occurring organism in the gut that helps maintain mucin layers and supports a balanced microbiome. What I read showed that pasteurized (heat-killed) Akkermansia may even be more effective than live strains. ✅ this is safe for most people, including those who don’t tolerate typical probiotics. 🧫 Other Ingredients: • Magnesium Stearate – A flow agent used in most supplements. Inert and generally safe in small doses unless you’re extremely reactive. • Gelatin Capsule – Animal-sourced, so not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. ‼️Be mindful: • If you’re allergic to shellfish (due to NAG) or beef (from collagen). • If you tend to be highly sensitive to plant compounds, especially citrus or polyphenols • If you have known mineral imbalances (like copper) • This is not vegetarian or vegan-friendly. 🧪 Third-Party Testing & Quality: Researched Nutritionals is known for rigorous in-house testing and cGMP standards. While they don’t list NSF or USP certification for this particular product, their reputation for transparency in the Lyme and chronic illness community is strong. They often publish Certificates of Analysis (COAs) on request, which is rare and a big plus. Still I wish they had listed the coa for this product- which is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. 🌱 Can this be USDA Certified Organic? This was one of my biggest hesitations with this product: But it can’t realistically be. Because many ingredients (like collagen, NAG, and standardized extracts like CoreBiome and GutGard) are synthetic or animal-derived, they’re not eligible for organic certification. Also, organic standards don’t yet fully cover postbiotics or heat-treated strains. 💰 I looked at some other products on Amazon to compare ones that were gentler and lower-budget options: • Vital Planet Flora Adult 50 Billion – Live strains only, clean formula, $40 range • MegaSporeBiotic (Microbiome Labs) – Spore-based probiotic with postbiotic effects, $55–$65 • Pendulum Akkermansia – Pasteurized or live strain, $70–$90

I didn't notice much of a difference in using/discontinuing.
I admit to being a little skeptical about "Researched Nutritionals RenewGut Thrive - Gut Health Supplements with Pasteurized Akkermansia Muciniphila & Tributyrin Postbiotics - Support A Healthy Gut Barrier & Immune Function (150 Capsules)". It seems like this product is largely dependent on personal experience that may or may not be able to be verified. While the bottle of 150 capsules seems like a great value for the price of $88/bottle (at time of review)... the user is directed to consume 5 capsules daily, which means that this is a 30-day supply. I find these capsules difficult to consume. Five large capsules at once is... a lot, and they have a strong odor. Like other reviewers, I had to split the dose, although I found it a bit easier to consume when taken with orange juice or sparkling water. I honestly can't say that I noticed much of a difference in using this product over the course of a month, and then discontinuing when I ran out of the capsules. I do not feel that it was personally effective for me because I did not notice much of a difference, but Researched Nutritionals does seem to offer enough information to show the quality of this product. As always, please consult your care provider before taking any products like this one.

All the benifits for the gut!
The RenewGut Thrive Gi Optimizer has really helped get my gut health back on track. Im experiencing less bloating and more motility. They do have a bit of an odor to them, but I still find them easy to take. The smell tells me the medicine is potent, which is a GOOD thing, and I think it's a quality product. It is a bit expensive for a 30 day supply.

High-quality gut health support
I’ve been using Researched Nutritionals RenewGut Thrive for a few weeks now, and I can already feel improvements in my digestion and overall comfort. What I really appreciate is the thoughtful, science-based formula – combining Akkermansia, Tributyrin, collagen peptides, and other key ingredients for a comprehensive approach to gut health. The capsules are easy to take, and I like knowing that it’s dairy-free, non-GMO, and free from common allergens. My digestion feels smoother, and I’ve noticed less bloating and more energy throughout the day. I also feel reassured knowing that it supports both gut lining integrity and immune balance, which are so closely connected. This supplement feels like a high-quality, research-driven product that actually delivers. I plan to continue taking it as part of my wellness routine. Smell bad, but effective!
I have used products from Research Nutritionals before and trust their quality. I recently had to take a lot of antibiotics for an infections and I got this product to use alongside probiotics to help rebuild my gut. Upon opening the bottle, the first thing to hit you is the smell. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever smelled, but there is a distinctively bad smell to these. The dosage is five pills, which is a lot. The pills themselves are easy enough to swallow. Each bottle is one month supply. I took these alongside some probiotics. I never got an upset stomach or had any discomfort from taking them. My stomach was pretty upset and out of whack from antibiotic use, but after taking these for a month with probiotics I was feeling much better and more like myself.

Good Formula but Hard to Take 5 at Once
I like what this supplement is doing for my gut health, but I have to admit the capsules aren’t the easiest to take. There’s a bit of a smell when you open the bottle, and taking five capsules in one sitting feels like a lot. I usually end up splitting the dose just to make it easier. That being said, I do notice better digestion and less bloating since I started. The results are solid, but I wish the serving size was smaller or the capsules were more concentrated. It would make the experience way more convenient.
