Is the plastic 32 oz container BPA free?

Looking at the label on my almost empty bottle of syrup, there is no mention of BPA anywhere on the bottle.  On the bottom there is a recycle triangle with a 2 in it and HOPE under the triangle.  There's also a 19 under their trademark, also on the bottom   Hope this helps

Yes, it needs to be refrigerated after opening. 
You can warm in a separate glass measuring glass or container if you like your syrup warm on your pancakes or waffles .

What is the difference between the dark and amber colored maple syrup? Flavor?

If you've not purchased "Dark" maple syrup before, I can sum up the difference like this: "Amber" has a more subtle maple taste more akin to brands of artificially flavored syrups like Mrs. Butterworth's or Aunt Jemima. In fact, I don't know of any mass produced artificially flavored syrups that has "Dark" on the label. So, if you're looking for a bit richer, better tasting syrup like Mrs. Butterworth's BUT isn't artificially flavored, then Amber maple syrup will likely fit your needs. Pure, 100% Maple Syrups bearing (or baring?) "Dark" (often called "Robust") on the label, to me, has more of a molasses-type flavor. It's a very deep and more rich tasting syrup.  I can give another comparison: Amber is to milk chocolate what Dark/Robust is to dark chocolate.  As far as I am able to tell, there is no added nutritional or health benefit between Amber and Dark maple syrups.  However, one benefit I've found is that I need less of the Dark syrup (vs Amber) to satisfy my taste buds, and while I like the Dark/Robust syrup, I still prefer the overall taste of the Amber. There is one thing you should know though -- Once you have eaten 100% PURE Maple Syrup, it's unlikely you'll ever be satisfied with nor want Mrs. Butterworth's and other artificially flavored syrups again!
