Big, heavy pen that writes very well.
I was a little hesitant about buying this pen because of quality issues reported over the years. The pen that I got worked perfectly. I flushed the converter out a couple of times with tap water, then tried it with Pelikan 4001 violet ink. The nib is glassy smooth, on the wide side of medium. Expect some bleed-through with the cheap filler paper found in back-to-school sales. In summary, a surprisingly good pen at a bargain price. The seller is excellent as well.

Very good for the price. Good gateway fountain pen. Don’t expect a perfect ink flow for that money!
Looks very good, nice big nib. Metal body fees good in the hand. For the price - it writes well, but you can’t compare it quality-wise with German or Japanese pens. A bit of a gusher, the first half page after starting it floods a little bit but for the price - heck of a nice pen!

Great Entry-level Pen
I purchased this pen when I was new to fountain pens. Wanted to go cheaper until I knew what to expect. What a great pen this turned out to be! I love the weight and shape of this pen. Its very sturdy. I have noticed that some of the paint is starting to chip, but for the price, I cant complain about that. It's a very wet writer which means that shimmering and sheening inks work great in it. Fountain pens arent really good on regular office and copy paper. Because this pen writes so wet, you will have bleed through and feathering if you try to us it on regular paper. Id recommend at least a 90gsm with this one. Overall it's a great pen to introduce you to the world of Fountain pens.

Fun Fountain Pen
Years ago I bought a Mont Blanc 146 because the 149 was too big for my taste. However, my tastes have changed and I love the Jinhao 159, which is the same size as the MB 149. This pen, the Jinhao 159, writes smoothly with just a little feedback. It is a metal pen and seems to be pretty well made, especially for the price. The pen is chunky in terms of girth so I suggest taking that in consideration for example for carrying in a shirt pocket. It can certainly be done, but if you're used to carrying a cheap Paper-Mate ballpoint in your shirt pocket this Jinhao 159 will be a change! So far, I love the Jinhao 159 and I highly recommend it, especially at this price.

A fine pen at a very low price.
It,s a fountain pen. what do you think I used it for? I was a fountain pen collector for 40 years, before I sold most of my collection ( 20 @ years ago). I had 2 Mont Blanc 149 pens. This JinHao 159 pen is a $3- copy of the 149. It writes just like my 149,s did. Be care full screwing the cap back on. You can cross thread the cap if you are not care full. If you post the cap, while you are using this pen, it can fall off.

Oversized fountain pen
The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because this is quite simply uncomfortably large for me to write with, especially coupled with a medium nib. Aside from that, the pen is well made, well balanced, and if you like large pens, I can heartily recommend this one.

Good pen if you're a fountain pen enthusiast, not a good pen if you're not.
This is a Jin Hao 159 that is a replica of a Mont Blanc. Feel as you may about it blatantly stealing a design. I personally don't really have an issue with that, as it's not trying to be a direct competitor to the original. It's not a bad pen, but it's not an outstanding pen either. If this pen were to get a report card grade for its existence, it would get a solid C. Its size, including weight and length are nice. However, the plastic seems cheap as does the metallic bits on it. Nobody that is into fine fountain pens will mistake this for an expensive pen. Hell, nobody that is into higher end objects, and has a discerning eye for quality, will mistake this for a high quality item. If Wal Mart were to have its own pen line, this would be its flagship. It comes with a converter, which works smoothly and, well, it's a converter. They're hard to get wrong. It sucks up the typical amount of ink and it doesn't leak. It comes with a medium nib that's stiff and writes smooth enough to not really impress you by itself. It does amaze you that the whole pen is that cheap and the nib writes that well. If you have some micromesh or mylar, it'll improve the nib quite a bit. Be careful and avoid dropping the pen. I dropped the capped pen a couple of times and it actually misaligned the tines. I have never seen that happen, and logic says it shouldn't happen, as the pen was capped, but it did happen. I discovered it under my microscope after I tried writing with it and I noticed the distinct misalignment scratch. Odd. I want to be clear that it's not the pen's fault that I dropped it. But keep in mind that it's not a pen that would do well on the move. Keep it as a desk pen and not a shirt pocket pen. Not that it's that light anyway. So what's the conclusion to this pen, should you get it? Yeah, if you're into fountain pens, get it. If you're curious about the Mont Blanc and don't want to spend close to a grand to feel one up and you don't want to take a trip to your local Mont Blanc boutique, try it out. If you're curious about how well a cheap Made in China fountain pen replica can be, get it. If you want to give it as a gift, don't get it. It's simply not gift material. It is curiosity material for fountain pen enthusiasts. If you want a good entry level gift pen, stick to the Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari. They're much better and they have a very good potential of turning a non-fountain pen user into an enthusiast. This pen, due to its build quality, materials, and writing performance does not, even though it is NOT a bad pen. You just have to already be into fountain pens already. I have two in different finishes and the overall quality is the same.

Poor Man’s Mont Blanc
Saw this recommended on Reddit for those who want the joy of a Mont Blanc without the pain of a price tag so I bought this to see what the hype was and honestly? This pen is amazing. The first thing you’ll notice is the pens weight. It /feels/ like an expensive pen. I was honestly expecting it to feel very “plastic” and cheap, but it’s very hefty and feels fantastic when writing with it. Very smooth and consistent writing, can’t recommend enough!!
