Stainless Steel Cast Pipe Fittings 90 Degree Barstock Street Elbow 1/4" NPT Male x 1/4" NPT Female Water Fuel Air

These fittings look like a great idea until you realize, because of the ultra low profile female port, there is only about 1-2 threads of engagement MAX on a portion of the female threads. I believe this has been done so the part could be machined from the narrowest possible bar stock. The resulting design causes your mating part to nearly bottom out, seal poorly, and partially obstruct the internal aperture of the male threaded port. NPT fittings are tapered, meaning the threads are designed to deform slightly to conform to the mated component to achieve the gas-tight seal. On these fittings, it's not that the female threads are cut oversized or out of spec, it's that most of the threads have been removed on one side due the design being fundamentally flawed. With almost no thread engagement there, I feel you cannot trust it to perform as expected of a typical in-spec NPT fitting. The female thread does not let you screw in a 1/4" NPT male fitting or nipple far enough to make a seal. It bottoms out before getting tight. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the listing mentions it's short and maybe that was supposed to tell me it wouldn't work with standard NPT male connectors? If that's the case, the listing should clearly state it doesn't work with normal NPT male connectors.

One has bad external threads, the other has bad internal threads. Both are useless. Utter fail.

I purchased this elbow for use the V-Twin breather oil collector, which I also purchased on Amazon. This fitting proved to be too large to fit under the collector’s air filter. I had no other use for the fitting, so I returned it. This by no means is a reflection of the quality of this product. The quality is first rate. It is just the purpose I had in mind for the product was so specialized.
