1. Fill 3/4 full of gourd with yerba mate 2. Shake the gourd lightly to distribute the mate 3. Insert the bombilla (filter straw) into the gourd at a 45 degree angle, and stand on the side of the gourd. 4. Pour hot water(160-180°F) into the bombilla until the gourd is full. 5. Let the Yerba Mate rest for a while to absorb water. 6. Repeat Step 4 whenever you want to drink more tea

The caffeine content is less than coffee and more like tea, about 40mg/8oz infusion (of course caffeine content for non-decaffeinated infusions (Mate or Teas) depends on brewing time, leaf type, and leaf preparation (e.g., roasting, decaffeinating, etc.) similar to how different coffee beans, grinds, and brewing vary the caffeine in coffee.
