When you're ready to ditch your smartphone, this is a solid alternative
Most smartphone alternatives are either obsolete, dumbed down for seniors or kids, flimsy and cheap, or niche products with one-off software from companies that won't be around next year. This one is different. Made for military, government, and corporate users, it offers: 1) MIL-STD-810H dust, shock, vibration, temperature ratings, 2) US Trade Agreements Act compliant - made in Japan, 3) runs a simplified, locked-down version of Android, 4) 9.5 hours talk time, 16+ days standby, swappable battery if you need more, 5) sensible set of utilities, built-in apps, camera, flashlight, and that's it: no downloadable apps, no app stores, no pay-by-phone, no games, minimum attack surface for security threats. If you're serious about taking your life back from your phone, you could do a lot worse.

Endless boot loop makes phone unstable
Ordered this phone TWICE and after going through all the troubleshooting the phone is once again stuck in a boot loop. Turns on when plugged in, you unplug it and back to BOOT loop. I was so incredibly excited for this phone but after turning on correctly once it just BOOT loops the logo like some terrible tease. Do NOT bother with this if you are looking for a good dumb phone. Get something that works. Turns out the battery arrived completely swollen, it spins on a flat surface, and the phone boot loops unless it is plugged into the wall. Because this is a defective and hazardous battery, I need an immediate warranty replacement.

Kyocera DuraXA, Excellent flip phone! Rugged, great sound and good battery life.
This Kyocera DuraXA Unlocked flip phone is everything that Kyocera claims. It's tough, it has great volume (and yes, we haven't given it a dust or water bath) but it is supposed to be dust resistant and water-proof. It's battery lasts well and it's from a company that's known to make good, high-end products. My wife won't adjust to smart phones and does have a tendency to drop things, so this has good odds of lasting as long as 5G is the standard.

Getting the phone to work is my goal
I bought this phone because the description read it was unlocked and was compatible to AT & T. We took to At & T store and the tech said it was locked and he could not set us up. What is my next step? Return the phone, take to another At & T store for another tech to review it?

No wonder E.T. had a problem.
This one seems to be better than most flippers, but I see no way to set up voicemail, and texting needs to be improved as it is too slow to operate. My theory is that if flip phones were made without issues, then smart phone sales would be hurt.
