Bought this robot after my 8 year old daughter used something similar on a school “coding” field trip. Was super fun to put together like Lego. Looks awesome. Worth noting that only the tracks move with the remote. No other lights or arms or head or anything else moves or illuminates. Out of the box, one of the motors was weak so we contacted the seller and they immediately sent us a new drive unit with a controller. Now it works fantastic! Thanks Rebecca! The reviews talked about problems with the app but i installed it on an iPhone and an android tablet and it works great. Has a programming mode, steering wheel mode that uses phone’s gyroscope, path mode where you draw a line on the screen that it follows. Also has a leash mode where I think it is supposed to follow the phone but that was the only function not working. Think the app works with various devices. First motor control unit we had took regular batteries and they didn’t last long but the replacement one came with a rechargeable RC lithium battery with incredible run time. Spend the extra bucks for the good battery. The tracks are incredible on the unit and it goes anywhere.

This is going to be a blown-away rave review, so I must dispel one notion up front: Despite the Vines tag above, I paid for the item myself for my own use outside the Vine program. This will be a two-part review, one for the company and a second for the product. HogoKids Companies I’ve dealt with have been good, but HogoKids’ support set a new threshold of service far, far above the norm. As I neared completion, I realized a small part was missing. I finished everything but could not find the part. I acknowledge it might have been my fault. As I opened the sealed parts packages, I fumbled one, scattering parts. I gathered them all– I think– but I cannot be absolutely certain the absent part was my own doing. I was perfectly willing to confess the error might be mine, but I never got the chance– Hogo support (through the HogoKids info@ email address) said not to worry, they’d take care of me. As of now, a replacement part is on its way and the warm, friendly, yet professional exchange with Hogo has left an overall positive experience. Every company should work this way. I’d award 16 stars if I could. 3-in-1 Wall-E Robot Clone While I’ve built robots since I was a boy, I’ve never dealt with Legos. I don’t care for the blocky look that results. The HogoKids avoids that Lego appearance so that I much prefer the Hogo look compared to the official model. At the same time time, it appears official Technic parts may fit the Hogo bot, allowing it to be extended in yet-to-be imagined ways. The parts are sturdy and precisely machined. Not one showed mold flashings or deformities. I haven’t tested, but as stated above, parts look like they might interchange with official Lego Technic components. The kit includes a half dozen odd, feather-shaped parts that appear to be gap fillers. However, they don’t appear out of place in the final result. Be aware that in photos, the eyes appear illuminated. In reality, they’re not, which is surprising. The remote control has an undocumented feature, a pair of switches to reverse direction of the joy sticks. If you prefer to pull back to move forward, you can flip the switch. (See circled switches in photo.) Top marks for a well-made and well-supported product.

Gage as a gift for a 11 year old who loves science and building things, he built it and was talking about it for a month.... Lol drove the parents nuts with excitement! Durable, and functional... Great price. Reading instructions helps keep. It educational and creative thinking as well. Age probably 10-12 years old.

The robot was super cool once it got put together, took us about 3-4 hours with the vague directions and small print. Definitely not for a 6 year-old though! I’m 31 and had a difficult time, probably a 10+ age
