Will the charger work with batteries connected in parallel (eg. RV house batteries) without having to disconnect them?

Accepted Answer

This smart battery charger supports charging 12V lead-acid battery. It is not recommended to charge battery in parallel. Because the surge current is too large, the battery would be damaged.

Question 2

Why does it say not to charge a dead battery in the warnings? Is that not what it’s meant for?

I have repaired several old, dead but otherwise non-defective batteries. I connect them and select Repair. After a few minutes it will stop and say battery fault however the battery will now should a few volts. I repeat this process until the voltage gets high enough and the repair continues, sometimes for 24 hours. When completed the battery starts my 1976 LC and continues to work well with normal use. Note, as a precaution I always do this outside away from the house. I also know that the battery is not internally damaged.

Charger says to connect cables when they are connected

This just happened  to me too.  It's because  the charger cannot  recognize  it as a battery. Your battery  is dead dead.  It is a built in safety protocol.   Fortunately  it was my boat battery.  I hooked it up to my car with jumpers for 10 minutes.  I then i hooked up the charger.  The charger  immediately recognized the battery and started  charging.  Hope this helps!
