SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E for Meshtastic

During testing at the same time and location, my T1000-E connected to more nearby nodes than my other Meshtastic devices. Amazing for such a compact device. I’ll be buying more and recommending this model to friends and family as it’s so easy to use.

Not yet working but I am putting it down to user error

Il prodotto se funzionasse senza bloccarsi sarebbe perfetto. Ho provato tantissimi firmware ma ogni volta che applichi una modifica che preveda il riavvio del dispositivo, lui si riavvia e rimane con luce verde fissa. Quindi viene meno il fatto che sia un dispositivo portatile perchè per farlo ripartire serve il cavo di alimentazione per far il riavvio forzato. Una vera delusione....

Das kleine Gerät tut einen guten Job. Akkulaufzeit ca. 2 Tage, LoRa-Empfang ohne Zwischenstationen ca. 4-7 km hier in Berlin (in einem Außenbezirk bei etwas dünner besiedelterer direkter Nachbarschaft). Das Gerät kam hier mit einigermaßen aktueller Meshtastic-Firmware an, ließ sich insofern also "plug and play" betreiben. Aufladen ist möglich, während das Gerät genutzt/betrieben wird. Wenn an einem "normalen" USB-Ausgang Ladestrom geliefert wird, ohne dass besonders viel Power geliefert wird, ist das für das Gerät auch okay. Dann dauert der Ladevorgang halt länger, geht aber problemlos. Ein Schwachpunkt ist der eingebaute Temperatursensor. Der liefert nämlich deutlich zu hohe Werte hier. Da ich den aber nicht primär benötige, lasse ich den bei der Bewertung aber mal außen vor hier. Das Zusammenspiel zwischen der frei vefügbaren Meshtastic-Software und dem Gerät läuft sehr ordentlich. Einmal hat sich die Software hier mal so richtig verhaspelt, war dann aber durch Restart des SenseCAP-Gerätes und ein wenig "sanfter Gewalt" in Sachen Bluetooth-Partnergerät bzw. dessen BT-Interface-Ansteuerung in Ordnung zu bringen. Mit solchen Überraschungen muss man halt wohl rechnen, wenn man auf Software setzt, bei der halt weiterhin noch "work in progress" betrieben wird. Unterm Strich läuft das alles aber sehr gut.

I've been using meshtastic for various use cases for about 3 years and these are what I regularly recommend to newbies. For ~$40 you get legitimate GPS, legitmate temperature sensor, IP65 waterproofing, solid LoRa range for a built in antenna, and actual sound/light notification when a message is received. Solid battery life with the nRF52840 chipset. This is just if you use this for meshtastic. This puppy is also smart home ready, supports Zigbee and Thread, and 3 accelerometers (that might one day receive Meshtastic support). All in a fantastic compact package. Only downside is no swappable antenna, but that comprise is more than made up for with everything else crammed in this credit card size device. For meshtastic, I generally recommend using these in conjunction with a mobile or home base unit with better LOS placement and higher gain antenna(s), and setting these to CLIENT MUTE. Only accepting would be if you're hiking in a group and need these to retransmit messages. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT MESHTASTIC IS. Head on over to meshtastic.org before buying. You might need to be a bit more tech savvy than most to get these setup, but it gets you decentralized, encrypted, texting and telemetry sharing. All for just a little bit more than an airtag or tile. Different use case than your typical device tracker, and realize these are designed to be paired with your smartphone as a means to transmit from the device, even where there is no cell service.

Ich bin mit dem T1000E für Meshtatsic sehr zufrieden, besonders gefällt mir die Kreditkarten Größe, generell die Optik dieses kleinen Beleiters. Der Empfang, sowie das Senden von Nachrichten ist gut, die Leistung ist für dieses Gerät wirklich überraschend. Akku Leistung ist für dieses Mobile Gerät ausreichend, man kommt wirklich an die 2 Tage, es kommt eben auch darauf an wie häufig sie es nutzen und wie groß das Nachrichten aufkommen ist. Ich möchte jedem noch empfehlen vor dem Gebrauch des T1000E ein Update auf die Aktuellste Beta Firmware zu machen. Das können sie leicht und bequem über den Meshtatsic Web flasher machen. Haben sie damit Probleme, dann finden sie sehr viele Anleitungen dazu auf Youtube. Also, ich bin zufrieden!
