I was impressed before I even opened the chocolate. Not only was the package wrapped carefully, it was shipped with a cool block to help keep it from melting. The block was entirely warm so it probably wouldn't help during the summer but it's the thought that counts for me. 😍 The chocolate was recommended as being the safest dark chocolate we could buy. And the taste is astounding. It's kind of a chunky bar, meaning it's not smooth. It's stone ground chocolate so keep that in mind.

Taza 80% is too bitter (barely any sweetness) for my taste. Of course I ate them all, they were still OK maybe a 7. Going to try Swiss Milkboy's 70% bar. Reviews said they had perfect amount of sweetness while still healthy.

I'd been eating a few squares of 85% cocoa chocolate every morning for a little caffeine and the bioflavinoids. Found that I rarely craved more than a few squares. Then read a Consumer Reports article that said the brand I was eating was high in cadmium and lead. The article listed Taza as a brand that has very little of those, so I switched. Only problem: these Taza 80% is way yummier than my former brand so I'm eating too much chocolate now. Think the tiny bits of almond sort of soften and conteract the usual harsh flavor of very dark chocolate.

I don't think I've ever had authentic chocolate before, because this is such an experience. It took some getting used to, but now I'm a fan. Like others have said, it's bitter and chalky, but let it sit in your mouth. Slowly savor it. Then eat it. It will be worth it.

These Taza chocolate are very good. I look forward to eating a small piece everyday!
