I don't use nor like dishwashers, so haven't had that problem with my set.

Does not state the grade of steel but they are heavy and very sturdy. I have had mine for over a year now and they still look brand new even with steady washing in the dish washer. I love the weight and size of these utensils, but husband gets irritated with the weight because he drops them a lot. You can not go wrong on this set ❤️
