My new BFF
I am an adult who loves this thermos. It's been a lifesaver! It's everything I've ever dreamed of for the past 4 years! I had no idea such a thing existed. And I can't believe in all these years, no one had suggested I get a food thermos! When I think thermos, I think beverage, not food. Never crossed my mind. I work in an office with no microwave. The owner of the company believes microwaves make her sick, so we don't have one. I work for a very small business and literally have no co-workers, so I'm the only one who has to suffer and can't organize any sort of protest over a seemingly frivolous issue. I also only get 30 minutes for lunch, which isn't enough time to go out somewhere to eat (nor do I get paid well enough to do that anyway). So for the past 4 years, every single workday for lunch been limited to the option of yogurt or a cold sandwich. It is SO boring. Yogurt is quick since I can just grab it and go, but totally unfilling. I'm starving again after like, 4 minutes. Sandwiches require preparation and make me late for work. I don't even really like sandwiches...Both become extremely boring, monotonous, tasteless and unsatisfying after being limited to these two options every single weekday for 4 years straight. Some people can choke down cold food that is traditionally eaten hot, but I'm a bit of a picky eater and don't have such talent. On top of that, my office is a cave and all I want by the time lunch rolls around is something nice and HOT to put into my body and warm me up. My job sucks enough as it is - at the very least I want to be able to enjoy my short lunch break, right? It got to the point where I just couldn't stand it anymore and decided to try to find a new job working for a place that had a microwave (so like, any job but this one). Then I found this amazing, magical thermos!!! And it works really well! In the morning, I just heat up some leftovers in my microwave from last night's dinner, get it to nuclear temperature while I'm getting ready for work, dump it in the thermos and 5 hours later when it's time for lunch, it's the perfect amount of hotness. There is such an overwhelming variety of things I can eat for lunch now! Stews, soups, chili, pasta, macaroni, indian food, noodles and more! Such novelties!! I can eat lunch now and without wanting to throw up from being so ultra sick of everything! I am never eating yogurt or a sandwich ever again! Best $15 I've ever spent. I am still looking for a new job, but for reasons other than a lack of microwave. Go thermos!!!

Keeps Food Hot For Lunch At School
Durable construction. Keeps things hot for hours. Perfect for my child to take freshly made mac n cheese to preschool. Pasta and sauce is still nice and toasty by lunch. This keeps food hot way longer than the smaller 7 ounce Foodgo container I got when my child was a baby. That one cools down significantly warm after just 1- 2 hours which I found out after sending her to school with cold food and not knowing it. And my child is only 3 and never communicated it to me. But one day, after getting my child ready for school, I get a call that school was closed due to fire in the neighborhood. At noon, I opened the mac n cheese I made at 7 :30 that morning and it was completely cold. So I did some research online and based on reviews, the larger 10 ounce Thermos Foodgo does a better job insulating than the 7 ounce one. So I got one and was happy with it. So much so, that I got another yesterday. I should have known the 7 ounce thermos wasn't doing a good job keeping things hot. While making lunch I would fill it with boiling hot water. When lunch is ready, I poured the water into a mug to make a cup of tea for myself. And I put the lunch in to the pre-heated container. When I sip on my tea, it is comfortably warm. Cool enough for me to take large sips. When I received the 10 ounce thermos. I did the same thing. Pour in boiling water. Make lunch. Then empty the water to make my tea and fill the Thermos with hot mac n cheese. But I didn't think about how hot the water would be and took a big gulp. Yikes! It was still boiling hot and I burned my tongue!!! So yes, this works. Really well, actually.

Perfect size
I enjoy my Lunchbots stainless steel containers and my To-Go-Ware stainless steel round tiffins but added this to my lunch kit collection. It fits nicely in my tactical bag (UTG tactical which is comparable to a Maxpedition Versipak one model up from the Fatboy) but should fit nicely in the Maxpedition Thermite Versipack I just bought through Amazon.com. Easy to use wide mouth easy to clean no food waste either Update 10/27/2012: I've been using this product a while now and wanted to share my updated review. Before packing hot foods in this jar, I fill it with piping hot water to pre-warm the jar; this keeps the food hot for when I eat it for lunch. If I use the jar for cold foods including a small salad, I put the jar in the freezer while I prepare the cold foods; it stays cold all day even if I don't have time to eat the food. There are many great products in the market, but this fits my needs with the smaller 10 ounce size. UPDATE 12/6/2014: I am still using this container and its use ranges from hot food, cold food to hot tea I brew before taking off from home. It has not degraded, deteriorated in quality or function one iota. Amazing. I put this container through a lot (tossing, not washing right away, stuffing at the bottom of my ruck under heavy gear) but it's still brand new. Glad I bought this little item. Perfect size for me.

Still Testing Bottle but seems to work pretty good
*******PRODUCT REVIEW UPDATE: Have been using this at least once a week in my daughter's lunch for the past 2 weeks now. Great thermos! Keeps food HOT for at least 4-5 hours. She said it was "too hot" when she opened it for lunch. I do the trick of pouring hot water in the thermos in the morning and put the lid on it and let it set for about 30 minutes. I then heat up her food pretty hot (not scalding) and then pour it in and reseal the lid. Last night I did a test. I put the hot food in and left it on the counter for 3 hours. Test: VERY HOT still. Then I put it in the refrigerator for an hour. TEST: still pretty hot. This Thermos has never leaked on us and it is put in my daughters lunch box sideways in a thermos holder. So far it's been a fantastic high quality product. ************************************************* I bought this thermos to give my daughter the option of bringing hot foods like spaghetti, spaghetti o's, mac and cheese and leftovers to school and have a warm meal during cold days. I just got this a few days ago and have done my first test of it today. I heated up some chicken rice leftovers pretty hot in the microwave and then put it in the thermos and brought it to work. It's been 4 hours and I just ate the food. It was warm. Not hot but not lukewarm either, a nice warm. I think if I would have left it 5 hours it would have been pretty luke warm. I'm going to try the hot water test and see how that works. I think it will be fine for my daughter because from the time I set the food in the thermos to the time her dad leaves and takes her to school and by the time she has lunch it should only be about 4 hours. I'll give the hot water test a try and update my review later. As far as small hands opening this. It's a little tricky. She can do it and we've practiced. I think with a little use it will get easier to open. She can open but she has a habit of holding it with both hands and tilting it sideways. I told her not to do that because then when it opens the soup or whatever is going to spill out everywhere. We are practicing opening it with her putting it flat on the table. If she has problems the kindergarten teacher will be there but I think she'll be fine, just has to get used to it. I wouldn't put the lid on super tight, it might be hard for little hands to open. High quality, nice looking and I have a feeling it will last us through a few school years. THERMOS makes a good product.

Perfect for kids' lunches!
I ordered two of these thermoses for my kids' lunch boxes because they had been asking to have "warm food" for lunch at school. Both thermoses work very well. I fill them with very hot tap water while I prepare the kids' lunches, empty them, and then fill with soup. The kids say the soup is still really warm when they eat lunch about 5-6 hours after I fill the thermoses. They are easy to clean and I like that they aren't covered with cartoon characters -- my 9 and 14 year old kids wouldn't want to be seen in the cafeteria with anything like that! Also, these thermoses hold very generous portions and I think the quality is much better than the cheaper types of containers I've seen at the store (although I got these on sale for nearly half off, which was great). Edited to add: I've been using these for many months now, and still love them. I've sent my kids with all kinds of warm foods for lunch, even pancakes and leftovers like fish, potatoes, pasta, meatballs, and burritos. When I ask my kids if their food was still hot, they always say yes. My kids rarely purchase the school lunch, so this thermos really helps prevent them from getting tired of having the same old lunch day in and day out.

Works as stated and then some!
A more current review for anyone considering this item, as based on some of the previous reviews, I was hesitant to purchase and had guarded expectations, but we would have missed out on a great prdouct! I bought this last month for my daughter and so far, it has performed great, as it is supposed to. For warm foods, I do pre-warm it with, not even boiling but very hot water, for a about 10 minutes, then put the food (usually soup but have done, e.g., potstickers, too) in directly off the heat, and she says she would call it not just warm, but actually still "hot", when she eats it anywhere from 4 to 4.5 hours later. I therefore expect that it would stay at least a bit warm for an additional hour or more. So maybe actually beware if you have a really little one to let food cool before putting it in, since it may be too hot when they go to eat :) Another great thing about it and good thing for parents to know. . . you can close this tight enough to not leak without having to screw it super tight, so that young hands can get it open independently. In other words, adults would be tempted to twist it at least a half turn more to feel like it is closed "all the way", but this is not necessary to prevent leaking, and it would be too tight for most kids under 10 or 12 to get it open by themselves. And yes, I tested it first, both the leak factor and how tight it could be and my 7-year old still able to get it open by herself. I recommend this product, for kids and adults; worst case, at this price here online, at least try it and see for yourself. You will pay anywhere from $10 to $18 more buying it in a store. Enjoy!

Really wanted to like this (Review updated 1/21/11)
I dont know what I could be doing wrong. I tried this 5 times in 2 days and was very dissapointed. I am really stressing trying to find a good thermos that works for my daughter at day care. I dont microwave any of her food so I want to give her warm options at daycare. I read all the great reviews and thought this would be perfect. I boiled water put it in the cup for 12 minutes. Heated the pasta to very hot and after dumping the water out of the thermos immediately put the pasta in so I would not let any heat escape. I screwed the lid on tight and made sure it was on properly. 3 hours later the pasta is cold. What am I doing wrong?? It must be me since so many people have had good experiences. There are 4 hours between when I make lunch and my daughter eats there is no way this would stay warm for that long. I think maybe liquids would stay warm in this but not regular foods. Did I just get a faulty thermos? I really wanted to keep this its really cute to. My sister said stainless steel thermos's never worked for her either, maybe I will try the plastic insulated kind. REVIEW UPDATE 1/21/11 Instead of returning this item I had amazon replace it. I figured since so many people on so many websites gave this a good review that there must have been an issue with my food jar. I am not entirely convinced that every reviewers food jar worked I really doubt some tested it before they sent there child out with it. But like a said I ordered a replacement tested it last night 1/20/10 and it 4 hours later the food was still quite warm, perfect temperature for my 1 year old. So I think that maybe my original food jar had a faulty vacuum which if it fails will not keep food warm. I plan on testing it a few more times over the weekend before sending her out with it but it was warm at 2 hours and warm at 4 hours. My first food jar didnt even keep the food warm for an hour. Review update: 7/10/17 3 kids later this is still going strong. I have bought several versions since the original and they all work great. This is the only brand I have found that keeps the food warm for long periods of time. I always test a new thermos a di always make sure to heat it up.

Works for us
My daughter is 6 years old and uses this for her school lunch. It is just the right size for a kids meal (with some room to spare). I usually rinse the inside with warm water before putting the food in and 5 hours later the food is still warm. We alternate between the Zojirushi Mini and Foogo by Thermos. Both keep the food warm for the 5 hours needed. I would not store food in the lunch box longer than that, but if this was ever required I would use the Zojirushi as it seems to keep the food warmer longer. The Foogo costs a lot less, but does not come with the extra bowls and the bag. However, I do prefer the lid on the Foogo as it seems less likely to leak - although so far none of them have. My conclusion: Both are good products and works well for us. I like to alternate and would buy both again, but if I had to choose one I would choose the Foogo for our use. It costs a lot less, but keeps the food warm until lunch time. I feel so confident that it will not leak that I put it into the backpack without protection and use a regular small lunch bag for milk, fruit and snack.

Fantastic product
I ordered this for the first lunches outside the house of my 7 month old, but it is also great to take hot water with you for the baby formula. Shipment went great!
