Does the mic plug into the faceplate or the main unit? If main unit, how do you run the mic? Thanks.

Microphone does not plug into the faceplate. If you use remote cable for faceplate, your mic will be running from the main unit, not the remote faceplate.

Is it possible to program a memory channel to have a cross band split? As in when I key the mic it transmits on UHF, but it receives on VHF.

I have used the TM-V71A in crossband repeat using either or both VFO or memory channels. You can use memory on one band and VFO in the other, of any other combination. It works very well in this fashion and makes it a cherished radio!

When using as a crossband repeater am I able to change the frequency/channel remotely via the HT allowing me to move from one repeater to another?

Yes, as long as your are using a compatible Kenwood HT (not sure which Kenwood HT's are considered "compatible"). Page 85 of the owner's manual describes how to remotely control they TM-V71A.

I am looking for serial numbers lower than B8610081. Do any of the radios you have, lower in s/n?
