Amazing product for the price, it works as expected. Easy to install and has a sleek design. The low profile size made it possible for an abundance of solar on the roof This 12v unit replaced an older Coleman Mach 3 which was roughly 90 or so pounds. The lighter weigh (almost half) made it much easier to complete a solo install. The new 12v is also much quieter then the old previous 110 volt ac unit. The installation were straight forward and un-complicated. The instructions are printed in large font with detailed illustrations. I installed the ac on my own over the course of 2 nights. Working a little bit each night. One thing is I wish they offered a bigger variety of hardware for those roofs that are a little bit thicker then others I have a 600ah lifepo4 system charging off of 2200 watts of solar. The Summit 2 on Eco mode draws around 16amps so this easily lets me run the unit throughout the night and charge back up during the day. The variable speed compressor is an absolute game changer for anyone looking to conserve as much battery as they can. Very little power draw compared to the previous 110v unit. I opted for the heat pump also. Which definitely takes the chill out on a chilly day. Highly recommend this lo profile ac unit for anyone off grid trying to run off battery power

The manual includes three different mounting options, two of which don’t require drilling through the roof for the power cable — a big plus. The unit is designed to fit standard rooftop openings, including both 14x14 inches and 14x9 inches, making it compatible with most RV setups. While the unit was originally built for truck cabs, it's well-adapted for RV use. It’s also much lighter than traditional rooftop ACs, which made it easier to lift and install. I recently installed the 12V 10,000 BTU Rooftop RV Air Conditioner, and overall, it’s a solid unit with great cooling power, especially for off-grid setups running on 12V systems. It cools quickly and runs efficiently, which is a huge plus when you're trying to manage power usage on the road or at a campsite. However, I have to be honest about the installation process—it wasn’t the smoothest experience. Removing the screws from the lid to access the panel below was more difficult than it needed to be. The placement and tightness of the screws made them hard to reach and even harder to remove without risking damage. And once you finally get to the panel, be prepared: the connectors holding the lid on are incredibly fragile. It felt nearly impossible to remove the lid without breaking at least one of them, which was frustrating considering how frequently you might need to get back in there for wiring or adjustments. That said, once everything was in place and running, the performance of the unit made up for the hassle. It's quiet, effective, and doesn’t draw a ton of power, making it a great fit for RVers looking to stay cool without draining their batteries. Just be ready to take your time (and maybe have some replacement connectors on hand) during install.

We bought this 12V rooftop air conditioner after the complete failure of our engine-mounted A/C and heating system in our 1973 Winnebago. We use the RV to tow our race cars to events, and let me tell you—driving through summer heat with no A/C is brutal. We were searching for something that could replace both the heat and cooling system, ideally without needing to run a loud, fuel-hungry generator while driving. That’s when we found this 12V rooftop unit—and it checked every box. Why we chose this unit: No generator required – Runs on 12V, perfect for driving without firing up a generator. Copper coils Brushless motors Incredibly efficient Low profile – Sits much lower than the old-school rooftop A/Cs. Important for our retro Winnebago. Our roof had been repaired years ago, and the original vent had been sealed up, so we weren’t sure what we’d be getting into. But this unit fits standard roof vent dimensions—and it worked out great. The install instructions were clear, and they even have install videos online that helped a lot. We filmed our install for our YouTube channel, and even with the added time for filming, it only took about 3 hours to install. The unit sandwiches the roof with the inside and outside sections—very DIY-friendly. It comes fully charged with refrigerant, so no HVAC pro needed. We reused the original wiring route from the roof vent fan and connected power through that. I don't say this lightly: it could not have been easier. Performance so far? Excellent. It has a Turbo mode to cool things down fast, then shifts to a lower current draw to maintain comfort. We saw vent temps in the upper 50s to low 60s—this was while driving with just a single battery and no alternator charging it. According to the specs, a 600Ah battery should give you 10–12 hours of cooling, which is huge for us when we’re boondocking without shore power or a generator. Our real-world test is coming soon at a race in mid-August up in Michigan. That’ll be the big trial—and we’ll update this review after that. For now? Couldn’t be happier.

Fairly easy to install. Routing the 12v wiring was the hardest part. I have it installed in a 25ft travel trailer. I have yet to test it any weather above 80 degrees. It replaced a 120v Dometic AC. I opted for this unit over the countrymod 12v AC only because this one has a heat function aswell. A few cons to note: I opted to use a standard 14x14 one piece RV air conditioning gasket, not the included multi-piece gasket. I did not have confidence in the included gasket. The remote was delivered with a large dent in it. I reached out to OutEquipPro. They were quick to reply and I am awaiting a new remote in the mail. The AC unit display can show both Celsius and Fahrenheit. I have yet to figure out if the remote can display Fahrenheit. It only shows Celsius so far. My last complaint is I had to purchase a white adhesive foam insulation to fill a 1 inch gap between the trim panel and interior ceiling. The trim panel would not fit flush against the ceiling. This is not a huge deal considering its a universal fit unit. But it is a slight eye sore on a somewhat pricey purchase. Now for the good. It sure is nice being able to run the AC ALL night on battery power. I havent had hot weather since I've installed it, so it'll be interesting to see what the power consumption is. But as of now im using about 250 watts an hour with the AC set at 65 and on high. This is with an outside temperature in the 70s though. With a 12v 800ah battery bank, im only using 20% of my battery overnight. This is with a 12v fridge and inverter running all night aswell. I like the fact that you can turn on and off the LED display on the unit.. its a handy feature for those of those that like to sleep in pitch black. The unit is much lower profile on the roof. It looks sleek and probably helps reduce aerodynamic drag. A miniscule amount of gas savings. Overall, If given the choice to do this project again, I would. I am hoping this proves to be a reliable unit. Only time will tell.
