I'll start by telling you, I was an acrylic junkie starting back in 1990 and wore acrylic nails consistently until last fall. About 5 years ago I switched to the powder and then to gel nails shortly after that. After all those years of fake nails, without a break, plus I am a picker of nails when they feel like they're lifting. If all 10 nails lasted 2 full weeks I was lucky. I usually couldn't help myself and picked them off completely before going back to the salon. It was so embarrassing. My nail beds were in shambles, they were thinner than paper. After I stopped the fake nails, tasks like folding clothes were a pain, they snagged my clothing, were sensitive under warm water, and just a mess. I bit my nails to the quicks. I was wearing gloves to try and stop, and to hide my hideous fingers. I can't wear polish, even nail strengthener polish would be picked off within 3 days. I needed something I couldnt pick off, that would heal my super damaged nails, and I almost gave up. I was thinking about going back to the salon, and dreaded it, since I'm low on cash. Then I saw this product, read some reviews, and bought a jar. What a lifesaver this product has been for me. I didn't notice anything the 1st week, but I liked the gentle moisturizing feeling and the light scent. Man! In 3 weeks I started noticing my nail beds were healing. The rough scaley look was smoothing over. The peeling stopped. The sensitivity was gone. Now a tiny bit of white at the tips are growing out and I can feel them getting stronger. I am so thrilled! I have hope now that I can grow my nails out. No snagging anymore and no hiding my hands. Best yet, when I want to pick or bite my nails, I reach for my jar and start rubbing my nails with this awesome balm. I've only been using it 4 weeks, and wish I had before pics. I'll never go without it, it saved me a ton of money too, no salon visits ever again!!

I'm super impressed with this product. I've been using it for about 4 months and the results are great. I haven't been super consistent using it either. I try to apply before bed but I forget quite often and I still have seen great results. You do have to wait for the damaged nail to grow out before you see the healthy, harder nail so give it a couple months to see the results. My nails are super white, thick, and strong now. I paint my nails pretty often, but gave them a couple months break when I started the process for maximum absorption on the entire nail bed. You don't need to use much when applying, so it lasts quite a long time as well. I haven't even used half the container yet.

UPDATE: Alas, my nails are still pretty crummy and the peeling and tearing has started again. In defense of this product, it was spring gardening and then a return to "package handling" in the warehouse that has reignited my nail woes. Still, this seems to be helping. It's just not a "miracle" product. I will finish out the container and decide whether to go with a (sigh) brush on product to try and protect my always weak nails. I ran out of this cream awhile ago and just lived with crummy nails that peel, tear, and are just awful. Finally I had to do something to try and rehabilitate my nails as they were shorter than my fingertips and I was constantly dealing with painful exposed skin around my nails and cuticles. It is a bit greasy and takes awhile to sink in (which is why I hadn't reordered before) BUT that is not a bad thing. I finally bought some silicon finger covers so that the cream could sit on my nails and soak in AND now my nails are looking much better after only 4 days! The coconut scent is not off-putting and the cream works. I really didn't expect the edges of my nails to "seal", but I currently don't have any peeling nails at the white tips of my nails. This all still feels too good to be true as I don't usually have this kind of result with my lifetime weak nails. I'm excited that I might actually be able to finally have stronger nails.

My nails were extremely damaged from wraps and other mistreatment, and I wanted to have nice looking nails that didn't have to be covered with polish. I used Hard as Hoof several times a day. It took a few months of growing out the damage, but the result is now I have Insta worthy natural nails. HaH doesn't heal existing damage. What it does is strengthen your nails so you can grow them out healthy and they look good natural. I also had hard ridges on my thumbnails and HaH smoothed those out, too. Here's a pic of what they look like now. I don't have a "before" but trust me they were pretty chewed up.

I didn't realize how dry my nails were until I started using this. Your nails and cuticles get so nourished using this . Sometimes I use it several times a day. Have less splitting and chipping since starting this nail strengthened. My nails got ruined from getting manicures using dip polish. I have very distinct ridges on most of my nails due to that. Still working on growing out the ridges and strengthening the nail beds. I bought the island coconut scent. It smells sort of like coconut putty to me. Not terrible smelling, but not the best scent. I'm more concerned about the nourishment of the product though.

I've been using Hard as Hoof regularly, and I've noticed a big improvement in my nails. They feel stronger, grow longer, and don't break as easily. The cream absorbs quickly, isn't greasy, and leaves my cuticles feeling soft and moisturized. A little goes a long way, and the jar lasts quite a while. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to strengthen weak or damaged nails.

PLEASE BUY THIS IF YOUR NAILS ARE WEAK, CRACKING, AND BREAKING. I was skeptical. But I am a believer now. I cannot believe how well this product worked. I saw the reviews but was having a hard time understanding how a cream could possibly fix my nails. I don't know the science, but I know the results and the results are amazing. For the last 6-8 months, I've been dealing with brittle, thin, weak, and easily chipped nails, hangnails, and nails that broke or cracked regularly into the nail bed. It was really stressful and painful. I was constantly having to bandage fingers so the nail wouldn't snag on anything, and it was causing me so much anxiety. I wish I had taken a before picture to show how terrible my nails were - multiple hangnails, multiple nails cracked into the nailbed, nails that were unable to grow beyond the nailbed. They were an absolute mess and a daily stressor. I didn’t because I didn't think it this would work for me, like other products that had good reviews and didn’t work…I was so wrong. I was desperate and went on Amazon and found this item. It was the one that would get to me the fastest and had a ton of positive reviews. I am SO GRATEFUL this product exists. The instructions say to use this 3 times a day, which feels like a lot, but it’s easy to follow and keep up with. Within a few days I could tell my nails were stronger. No longer would they bend with the smallest amount of pressure. The constant hangnails I had on multiple fingers vanished in about a week, maybe a little more for the real serious ones. I've only used this for about a month, but I cannot express the night and day difference it has made on my nail health. It has given me such a lift and taken a great stress off my shoulders. If you've been plagued with hangnails and nails cracking well into the nailbed, you know how stressful and painful that can be. This literally fixed ALL OF IT. If your nails are in need of rescue, this product will change your life!

I have always had an issue with my cuticles. Splitting, splintering, part growing out with the nail and part not. I would do my best to somehow trim it all off... Usually leaving me with a few bleeding cuticles. Applying this stuff even 4-5 times per week has left me with awesome cuticles. Not sure about the stronger nails though. Perhaps I will update this in a few months. But seriously.... BUY THIS STUFF! IT WORKS!

My nails were brittle and snapping after using gels. I used this twice daily and in 8 weeks my nails are strong long and no longer breaking. Fab product!

I began using hard as hoof in September 2023. Others here say they saw results in as little as a week or 2, but once nails have grown you cannot thicken them, you have to wait for new regrowth. However if used daily in 1-2 weeks you can definitely notice a difference to your cuticles, they’ll be less dry and you’ll notice very few to no hangnails. As I’ve been using it for 9 months now my nails have now grown all the way out at least twice. Along with taking a biotin supplement daily for the past 6 months and fish oil capsules, (so it may be all 3 working together not just hoof) my nails are much much thicker than they ever have been. They used to be extremely flexible and susceptible to tearing, and now I rarely ever get a tear or break no matter how small. This is also helped by keeping my nails filed in a rounded shape and avoiding using clippers, just a glass file. All in all hard as hoof probably does great for moisturising and preventing breakage on its own but potentially combining it with biotin and fish oil can lead to even more excellent results, just a tip! But even without the supplements I 100% recommend. I have been using it at least twice a day.

My nails have never been in fantastic shape but after I wore acrylic nails for a year in high school (15 years ago) they have just been super thin and brittle since - pile on top of that working in a factory and I just never really had nails - they were always chipped and ALWAYS peeling. I used this twice a day everyday for about a month maybe 2 and then would forget here and there so it got put on whenever I remembered - but have to say my nails are 2000% better than they were before - still thin but I think that's just what I got dealt for nails - very few chips and no more peeling and tons of length (for my nails) and it smells fantastic to boot
