No, not gluten free, since wheat is the first ingredient. I see the ingredient list in at least 3 places, so it should be obvious to anyone with wheat sensitivity. The wheat does help improve the flavor and texture though. I like that short ingredient list, but I would like it better with the addition of Organic, or non-GMO. The package arrived in perfect condition. The 3lb pack is divided into 10 tidy bundles of noodles, each about 5oz, and easy to portion for recipes. Cooking time is about 5 minutes. The bundles are not wrapped for storage. Once the package is opened, you will need a good airtight container to maintain freshness and keep out the creatures of the night.

These noodles are absolutely excellent and I intend to purchase them again. Having read several of the other reviews, however, I can see that there is a misconception that the product is 100% buckwheat when wheat is the first listed ingredient, with buckwheat being the second. The blend is actually 88.5% roasted whole wheat and 8.5% buckwheat flour. (the rest is salt). I find this blend very palatable and have no issue with the wheat but I am not trying to avoid wheat, nor am I allergic to gluten. The main message is that these wheat noodles are absolutely delicious, but if you can't safely eat wheat, you can't safely eat these noodles. Look for 100% buckwheat instead.

Love the packaging in individual small bundles. Cook up in 6-7 min. Nice texture when cooked. Delicious flavor (nutty) . Good source of protein. Expensive as far as pasta goes but worth the extra money.

This is a whole lot of Soba! The local store shelves are always out of Soba noodles. I'm so glad I thought to look here. The 3 lb pack is a great value.
