Why am I only allowed 5? I need 6 of these for a project

This is an issue you need to discuss with Amazon's Customer Service Department. Amazon is the one who put a limit on the number you can order, not the Seller's. This issue has been an ongoing one for 2 years, before you were limited to only 3. Wish I had a better answer for you. Jeff

Would large bath towels fit in these?

I would say yes. They are quite large. Not very sturdy though. If it's going to be sitting on a floor or shelf then fine but if you're going to travel with it, I wouldn't.

Do you think I could make a coffee table with these?

You could make something that would serve as a coffee table. These containers have slats all over them, so you would need to buy additional product to make a smoothe surface.

Is it possible for me to use as a laptopstand? I have a mac air laptop.

Yes, it should work fine. I actually use the MPI Wood crate for my 32" monitor. I turn it on it's side so I have access to various items I keep inside (underneath) the monitor. Thanks, Jeff MPI Wood
