As often as my cat upchucks hairballs on the carpet and my elderly mother forgets to take off her shoes when she comes in the house, I figured it was probably cheaper to buy a carpet shampooer than rent one as often as I'd like to be able to use it. The Bissell TurboClean PET is lightweight, compact, comes with handy tools for upholstery, and is surprisingly easy to prep, use, and clean. The clean and dirty water tanks come off and go back on securely and without struggle. The mechanism is incredibly simple: plug it in, turn on the switch, push it forward while holding the trigger to dispense the soapy water, then release the trigger and pull back to suck dirty water out of the carpet. Even the instruction booklet is comprehensive and clear. I was thoroughly impressed with how much water I could pull out of the carpet. I made several passes to get as much out as possible, and the carpet was only damp when I finished. Since I waited for nice weather so I could open the windows, the carpet was completely dry within less than 8 hours. The cord is reasonably long - actually longer than my Shark vacuum. It's fairly loud, but not egregiously so. Cleanup was also easy: the dirty water tank has a small plughole for quick emptying, and a larger hole for removing the float mechanism that allows for a thorough rinsing. The brushroll area is less easy to clean, but the entire device is lightweight enough to turn upside-down in order to get a paper towel or disinfectant wipe around and behind the brushroll (I highly recommend thoroughly cleaning that area after using). There were a few spots that didn't come entirely clean, and I was expecting that, but all in all, the "before and after" difference was remarkable. I also purchased Bissell's Clean + Allergen shampoo due to my allergies, and detected no fragrance and had no reaction to the shampoo.

I am very satisfied with the BISSELL TurboClean Pet 3948. It is a compact machine, light and very easy to handle, but with great cleaning power. It removed difficult stains, embedded dirt and left my carpets looking much cleaner and fresher. It also works very well in upholstery, which makes it very versatile to use throughout the house. If you have pets, it is an excellent option, since it helps to eliminate stains and odors with very good results. In addition, water tanks are easy to fill and empty, and cleaning the equipment after use is simple. I totally recommend it for its quality, ease of use and excellent performance.

I only received this today and did 2 of 3 carpeted rooms in my house. It’s small enough for storage purposes but it’s mighty in the work it does. I’m very pleased with the results. It was impressive to see how dirty the water was after the first run through. It’s easy to move and fits my needs perfectly. For the price I’m very satisfied. If it causes me issues in the future or dies after a few uses I’ll try to remember to come back and update. But so far so good and quick and easy to get the rooms back to feeling cleaning and the carpet so much cleaner looking and smelling! It didn’t leave a lot of water soaked in the carpet which tells me the suction power is pretty darn good.

I love this machine. It is light weight and narrow enough to get into small spaces. The only issues are: 1. The tabs to pull up and remove the dirty water sticks. I felt like I was going to break something. However, I think it is getting slightly loosed up. It is only on one side. 2. Somehow the cord got stripped down to the wire, right about where my hand held the cord. I have no idea how it happened since there was nothing sharp in the room to cause it. We put electrical tape around it, and it works fine. 3. The cord is soft or more flexible which is a huge help, but the cord could be longer. It wouldn't reach across the family room. With the exception of these few issues, the machine works wonderfully, and the smell from the sample was wonderful. The suction was amazing and pulled up additional pet hair that I thought I vacuumed. It is also very easy to clean.

Before getting into my review, I will warn you that if you have a septic tank and you use this on carpet, you MUST NOT drain the waste container into the sink. The vacuum/brush picks up a LOT of carpet fibers and over time that will absolutely plug the leaching field of your septic system with poylester fibers that will NEVER breakdown. I strain the waste through a kitchen sieve which I use just for this purpose. There....I just saved you a gazillion $$$. Really. The cleaner works great. Though not intended to be a whole house carpet cleaner - if for no other reason but because the cleaning mix and waste reservoirs are small for portability - it is perfect for pet accidents and such. Also decent for somewhat larger areas. Only nit I have is that the cleaning fluid mix is based on ounces per gallons of water in the cleaner tank, but nowhere could I find how many gallons (maybe 1/2?) are in the canister. Otherwise, gets the job done. Seems well constructed, good portability, easy to operate and after about 20 uses, I am pleased we bought it. For set stains, mix a tank with hot water (not boiling, tap temperature hot). It really helps. Bottom line, definite thumbs up for us and recommended! A must have if your dog can't figure out how to tell you he has to go potty or doesn't feel like going out because it is raining, or too cold, or too hot (if you have a yorkie, you know what I'm talking about ).
