GEARit 8 gauge marine wire shipping problem.
I have purchased six of these rolls over the last year and I am happy with the quality of the product. This is a good product for a great price. It is the best price on Amazon for 8 gauge marine wire. I did have a problem with the shipping. The package was so loosely packaged that three of the six rolls had the plastic ends loosen and popped off the cardboard roll. This makes a mess when you want to unroll the roll and pull the wire through conduit. I sent a message to GEARit and I will follow up on how they take care of the problem that was handed to me. I will then revise my review to more stars if I am taken care of.

As advertised but arrived in a somewhat tangled mess on broken spool.
Exactly as advertised but not like the photo. It came with one end of the spool broken off so was a more or less tangled mess--difficult but not impossible to unwind. Hope the seller notes this.

For Solar/PV battery connections
Summary: Using this 8 AWG cable for connecting solar MPPT controllers to the 24-volt battery bank in my Solar/PV system. Observations: For marine applications, which is a very harsh environment for electrical equipment, this specialty cable is built to withstand corrosion. The primary way this differs from non-marine grade cables, is by tinning the individual strands of wire (vs. bare copper). I have cut open very old cables to find that the copper wires, inside the sealed jacket, are corroded. These tinned wires are another layer of defense against corrosion. Recommendation: These cables are PVC, and a recent offering is silicone jackets, which tend to be more flexible. If you really need a more flexible cable, look into welding wires (a comparable offering is listed below, but larger gauge). One offering you might want to be aware of is copper coated aluminum (CCA), yes aluminum wire. Might be good for low current applications, but would steer well clear for high current power applications. Pros: Good fit & finish; heavy insulation; well marked; Country of origin listed on the Amazon page as CHINA; $0.90/foot. Cons: None for now. Conclusion: At $90 for 100 feet, $0.90/foot, rating this 5-stars. Versatile Product ~ Appropriate Choice for Long Speaker Runs ~ Real Copper Core w/Uniform Tinning
GearIT 8 Gauge Marine Wire (50ft) 8 AWG Primary Wire Cable, Tinned Oxygen-Free Copper OFC - Boat/Marine/Automotive/RV/Camper/Trailer/Solar/Outdoor - White 50 Feet... What I like: The product is very versatile. I'm using the wire for some longer home stereo speaker runs. In car audio installations, I would opt for twisted pair, shielded speaker wire to combat any potential audio interference which is common in car audio, but with my tidy in-home setup, this product provides the flexible jacket I needed and plenty of copper core to carry my high-powered audio signals. Of course, unlike common speaker wire, this is single wire, as compared with two insulated wires jacketed side-by-side. I needed about a 12 ft run to two tower speakers. Thus, I needed 12 ft of wire to positive on left speaker, and 12 ft of wire to negative on left speaker...12 ft of wire to positive on right speaker, and 12 ft of wire to negative on right speaker...for a total of 48 ft of wire. I like the quality of the tinning on the wire, as it's very uniform and I can just see the quality engineering behind this product. What I don't like: There's nothing I don't like about the product. I would definitely order this item again.

High quality wire that is legitimately marine grade
[NOTE that this is a single-conductor spool of wire. I know some people will miss that.] It's easy to print the word "marine" on a product. It's a lot harder (and more expensive) to make something that is truly marine grade. This is a heavily-insulated, tinned-copper wire that is legitimately marine grade. A lot of 8 gauge wire can be so stiff that it is a pain to work with, and that can be a real pain within the confines of a boat. This wire is well insulated but still flexible. The ad says that it is made of oxygen-free copper. I didn't send it to a lab, but based on the rest of the overall quality of the product, I am confident that it is. There are a lot of uses where it really isn't that important. But on a boat that spends it's life in salt water, you need all the advantage you can get. In my opinion, there aren't many more foolish things than cheaping out on the wiring on a boat. If you buy this for your boat, you won't regret it.

unprofessional
Came damaged, little bit of wire wasted, roll it came on destroyed. I am sad. Update: Was contacted by company a solution to my damages, but they only said along the lines of they will try to improve shipping. Update: The tin is only coated on the outer layer, not each individual strand. Makes it hard to solder. 1/10
