This is the mass paperback small size of the SAS guide. I read a review of this book on a survival website recommending the smaller version so you could fit it nicely in a Bug out bag. Well this is a very light weight book. Lots of helpful information in the guide, there are so many of these types of books out there. I like it for its size and ease of read, I can go to this in a pack easier than I can a lot of the big books that will stay at home. Also pick up an old Boy Scout handbook on here to toss in along with it.

Very readable and clear diagrams make this book the best guide for the price. It covers almost every conceivable emergency challenge in the desert, at sea, mountains, arctic, etc. Even volcanoes and emergency child birth. Having a copy of this in your preparedness rucksack will be one of the best investments you can make for the money. I've been through a military survival training and this expands on it covering an amazing number of scenarios and punctures myths like drinking your own urine, etc. The chapter on plants and their uses is very good considering the variety of climates and terrain covered in this guide. Lofty is a legend in the survival world and this is a fantastic resource to keep in your pack or car at all times. Read it and put your kit together or by one that meets your particular needs.

In difficult times, we all need to know how to survive on our own because we just never know. This book is pocket sized, so it can litterally go with you everywhere without taking up much space. This book contains lots of valuable information on how to survive with literally nothing. It discusses how to make shelter, find food, water, and any other necessity of life. If this book has only one short coming is that some of its photo examples of plants and the like are black and white drawings. I would of loved to have seen them as a full color photograph to aid in identification. I'm sure this helps keep the price down, but color photographs would have been nice. But, don't let that stop you from purchasing this book. Any shortcommings that this book has, you can go on line and do a little more research to find more information. For the price, the information it contains, it is a must for every home. We are told to prepare for 3 days of emergency supplies. If another disaster happens like what Katrina did to New Orleans, and affects an entire major city, what are you gonna do after your supplies run out after 3 days...you would know if you had this book.

Though Survivalist is in the title, you need this light-weight soft jacket version for ANY travel. It covers just about any situation in the world in which you are lacking the necessary items to survive, water food, or shelter. I plan on getting a few more copies to put in all my vehicles and the library at home.

This is jammed-packed with great information. It is very compact and light-weight. I am un-knowledgeable and inexperienced about wilderness survival. This book covers a number of topics and is written simply in a way that I understand. While experience is the best teacher, I feel that I will options I would not otherwise have had. It is packed in my camping gear.

The Ultimate Survival Guide is a useful, inexpensive, compact cargo size pocket book that contains a great deal of useful survival information. This is a handy guide to carry if you are camping, hiking, hunting, or fishing. This is also a handy guide for someone in the military. I would assume that many of the tips and instructions probably won't be needed for the average reader, but it is good to know info just in case. I recommend purchasing this item.

I have copies of this great little book in each Bug Out Bag, in each vehicle, in my bathroom, and on my nightstand. It is the one book I would not want to be without in an emergency. It is a plethora of indispensable skills with clear, solid descriptions and good illustrations. [...]

John 'Lofty' Wiseman is one of my favourite authors and I know his (ex) son-in-law, so I consider this pocket-sized book an excellent purchase. Unfortunately, with the ways things are going in the world, we all may need to benefit from Lofty Wiseman's wisdom and years of experience, in the not-too-distant future!
