Look for a number starting with "7" and ending with "0" if you need a 7N. The first number always indicates DEPTH meaning a 1 is jet black, a 4 is a medium/light brown, a 10 is the palest blonde; the next digit, be it an ALPHA or NUMERIC digit, will indicate the TONE of the color e.g.: N= aeutral/natural, A = ash, C = copper, V = violet, B (can be blue or brown--depends on manufacturer, letter placement, and other contributing factors) G = gold or green (see B for reason) R = red. If the color manufacturer makes the color with a second letter lower case (i.e.: Redken) that indicates UNDERTONE that contributes to the primary tone. The first letter is always primary and if there are 2 upper case letters that color has two tones (as opposed to a tone with an undertone).  When there are no alpha/letter codes and only numbers (usually 3 digits like with Pravana) then we follow the ICC (international colour chart) which is as follows: Natural - 0Blue Ash - 1Violet - 2Gold - 3Copper - 4Mahogany - 5Red - 6Green Ash - 7As you can see, "N" (natural) is = to "0" so when shopping for a 7N in the Pravana line, you will need to look for a 700. can i mix this with the silver and get a dark grey?

Not with this one. To get a charcoal color, mix the pravana chromasilk “vivids” black with pravana vivids silver. The vivids don’t need developer.

How is that at covering gray with 10 vol peroxide?  How long do you have to leave on for best gray coverage results?

the formula given to me by my daughter who is a hairdress in another state is 1 oz #7  1/4 oz #6.45 and 1 1/2oz of  20 vol developer. My hair turns out medium brown hair with  some red hight lights. The front of my head is all gray and it covers it well. I leave it on for 25 minutes. I do just the roots then in the last five minutes i rub it through my whole head.  Good luck.
