My 4 year old is obsessed with wind turbines. Can this just run by itself indoors? Just for him to sit and watch?

This means you can put a charged rechargeable battery (or an alkaline battery) in the turbine and switch it to output mode, which will spin the axle (which the blades connect to). Alternatively, you can charge the rechargeable battery by placing the turbine outside on input mode on a windy day. Then that energy can be used to turn the axle on output mode.
