What's the difference between the red(2020 model) and the green(2021 model), other than the colors? Are both metal gears, and same electronics?

Doing a check it appears many upgrades. If the size is 7.8 inch wide it’s the new model with improved internals plus clips now have a handle plastic ending which would help when putting the body back on. Colour doesn’t matter. The new wheels looks much nicer as well so can’t wait for my daughter to smash the current one into a wall so I have an excuse to upgrade.

Are the diff gears metal or plastic?

Metal. I had bought a Homex that had plastic ones and they broke within minutes. I’ve had no problems with this one. It’s got serious power for a little truck!
