What an amazing read!
It was so wholesome and that’s what I love about Elsie Silver’s writing. Every character is thought out but this was just stunning. I read it on release day laughed and had tears in my eyes at the sweet ending. Also … the series just got a bit spicier or is it just me?!! Loved it!

Great quick romance read - really enjoyable series
I think this series just get better and better I love Bash! Now I’m approaching forty it’s so nice to have MMC I would definitely fancy in real life and not just in the fantasy book world. He’s older, he’s grumpy and they have a past connection! Gwen the FMC is a curvy, voluptuous, vivacious character and he loves her for that not in spite of and that makes me love him more The characters you already love and no feature in the book too with some stories cleverly intertwined so you feel you know them and the town. Beau Eaton even makes an appearance (if you know you know)

Wow. Just wow.
Sebastian absolutely ruined me in the best possible way. I went into Wild Card expecting a great romance, but what I got was a character who completely took over my brain and refused to leave. He’s messy, intense, protective, frustrating, vulnerable, and somehow still impossibly hot through all of it. Watching him spiral, make mistakes, feel too much, and then fight his way back emotionally made this story feel so real and addictive. I didn’t just read this book — I lived inside it. This wasn’t just chemistry (although the chemistry was unreal). It was depth, growth, tension, and heart. Sebastian is easily one of those characters you finish the book missing like a real person. I’m honestly a little bit emotionally wrecked now… and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Boring....
I was so bored with this storyline. I didn't believe anything or relate to anything. Gwen was alright but all the other characters bored me Death. I did not believe the love story either. 3 stars because is Elsie Silver otherwise would have been 2 stars

Clyde stole the show.
3.5⭐️ I love Elsie Silver books, she’s an automatic read for me. If she writes it, I’m going to read it. However this one wasn’t my favourite, but that isn’t a reflection on the quality of the writing and story. It’s more of a personal reader interpretation issue, as someone who has a strained relationship with my father due to complex relationship circumstances this one hit a bit too close to home to be enjoyable & to be honest as I was reading it I just kept thinking that Tripp was getting some pretty harsh treatment considering he’d been blindsided with lies from his mother for his whole life & discovering his father in adulthood. 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe at the front there needed to be a ‘Daddy issues’ trigger warning along with the weight one! 🤣🤦🏼♀️ That being said, Clyde is literally the best character Elsie has ever written! He was an absolute Gem! He had me howling with laughter at points, and I’m sad we didn’t get more of him in the previous 3 books now.

Just another amazing Elsie Silver book
As a self-proclaimed slow reader, I was amazed that I managed to finish all 441 pages of this book in just five days. I was completely hooked from page one. Sebastian Rousseau (aka Bash) is your typical grumpy-but-good guy. He’s spent most of his life feeling overlooked, and now he’s suddenly hit with the life-changing news that he has a son no one ever told him about. Then there is the free-spirited yoga teacher, Gwen Dawson, who sees beauty in everything. A chance airport encounter sparks a connection between them that over the course of the book blossoms into something more. The character growth in this book was perfect. Both Bash and Gwen have their own complicated pasts, but together, they help each other heal and grow. Even Bash’s son (who starts off as kind of obnoxious) goes through a satisfying arc that feels genuine and wholesome. One main highlight for me was Crazy Clyde. We've heard about him before in the Rose Hill Series. He is known as the town’s eccentric conspiracy theorist, but this book gives him a whole lot more depth. His relationship with Bash and Gwen was incredibly moving, and his "craziness" makes a lot of sense when we learn his story. I also really appreciated the little cameos of some characters from other Elsie Silver series. We get a quick snippet of Beau from Chestnut Springs and an exciting glimpse at Emmet from the upcoming Emerald Lake series, which I’m already counting down the days for!

Really great book
Elsie Silver really is the Queen 👑 - the way she weaves all her books and characters together is just mind-blowing. I loved Wild Card. Gwen 💜 sweet, kind, beautiful… she’s perfect for Bash. And Bash, oh my… where do I even start? 🥵 Grumpy? ✔️ Age gap? ✔️ Handsome? ✔️ Wears uniform? ✔️ Makes me giggle & blush? ✔️ Protective? ✔️ Although, I’ll admit there was a little too much tiptoeing between them for my taste - hence 4.5 ⭐️. But Clyde… oh, Clyde 🥹💜 This man made the book unforgettable. He officially dethroned Harvey Eaton as the best side character. I bow. Thank you, Elsie 🙌👑

So good
When I heard that Elsie Silver was tackling the deliciously forbidden and inherently messy trope that is “ex-boyfriend’s dad,” I was immediately excited. Not because it’s a trope that I read often (I don’t!), but because I knew she would handle its complexities well - and that was definitely the case with this tension-filled book. Our couple’s relationship didn’t feel taboo or wrong, simply a different kind of forbidden and absolutely meant to be. I loved their meet cute and the immediate connection between them, the way they fit together. And I ADORED the fact that our hero knew from the very beginning that what he wanted was HER. It was incredibly refreshing to read about a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to admit it to himself, even if he isn’t sure that it can ever happen. Seeing the contrasts between him and his son also showcased how grown and mature he is, which was somehow even hotter. And I loved that our heroine was strong, stubborn, and willing to push him when needed. It was a breath of fresh air and a fun, small town-swoony take on a trope that isn’t usually known for that vibe. What a way to end the series… and get me excited for the next one! The story follows Bash (39), a man who just found out he fathered a child when he was 15. He had no idea about Tripp, who is now a privileged 24-year-old who still has some growing to do. When Bash meets a gorgeous stranger at the airport, he is immediately struck by her. Bash and Gwen (27) have an instant connection, which they both intend to continue… until circumstances keep them apart. So it’s a shock to the system when Bash is introduced to Tripp’s girlfriend months later… and she’s none other than the woman he can’t stop thinking about. Now, I’ll be honest, this trope is always a little messy, and this is no exception. Yes, Gwen has been banging Bash’s son, but it was handled really well and there is zero cheating, so don’t worry about that. It’s not that Tripp is a bad guy (I would love to read his book in the future!), but he is a bit of a man-child with some growing up to do. Bash and Gwen were clearly the better fit, and I was rooting for them from the start. We get the forbidden tension that comes from knowing they really shouldn’t cross those lines, all while knowing they would be so, so good together if they did. It’s a tense slow burn that pays off with some smokin’ hot spice in the back half. I loved the transformation of the characters and the way they fit together. I also loved that the story fit into the universe Silver has built, with appearances by past favorites and the introduction of some characters I am very intrigued by. I’ve been in a reading slump all summer, yet this held my attention with ease - another fantastic read by Silver!

Perfect ending of this series
« 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙. 💜

Almost my favorite of the series
I loved everything about this book: the plot, the characters, the slow burn, the spice. It’s probably my favore of the series along Wild Eyes. I loved Bash’s story so much because shows perfectly the struggles that sometimes life dishes you. And the fact that he tried to do the right thing to obtain what I truly wanted in life was priceless. Gwen has this bright personality and chose to live her life happy and to love herself, despite what happens. And then there’s crazy Clyde, the best side character in history! I loved the sweet moments between him and Gwen, and the banter with Bash. This books is for you if you like: - Small Town Romance - Forbidden (he is her ex boyfriend's dad) - Age Gap - Grumpy/Sunshine - Slow Burn Happy reading!

Brilliant!!!! Loved Loved LOVED
I swear, being an adult is the absolute WORST sometimes—because if I hadn’t cracked this baby open mid–work week, I would’ve have completely devoured it all in one greedy, sleepless sitting. Oh. My. LAWD. This book? Pure, dirty sin—delicious, intoxicating, and gloriously addictive. And why oh WHY, for the love of all things filthy, does this have to be the last book in this series?! *cue me throwing a full-on bratty tantrum* 😭 Sorry not sorry, but Clyde straight up hijacked this book. Don’t get me wrong—I adored every second of Bash and Gwen (and trust me, I’ll gush about them soon)… but that sly, sneaky, odd old man….like sir, who gave you the right to be the unexpected comedy king of the whole damn story?! Taint tanning had me in an uproar of cackles 😂 These two absolutely stole my heart. Both carry pasts heavy enough to make them believe they’re unworthy of love—but when they’re together? It’s pure magic. Every page drips with the kind of passion that feels bigger than words. And Bash… oh, Bash. Those tender little gestures—the raccoon charcuterie, the private plane with two unforgettable stops (one in the air, one on the ground 😉)—utterly melted me. It’s the kind of love that makes you giggle, sigh, and swoon nonstop from beginning to end. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
