Design Toscano Perseus Beheading Medusa Greek Gods Statue, 12 Inch, White,WU72918

I love this sculpture! The online photos by the seller give a clear idea of how beautifully crafted and detailed this reproduction is! I now consider the price to be absolutely inexpensive! I was hoping to find a bronze statuette of Cellini's masterpiece, but this marble resin is in my opinion better than any bronze or bronze toned copy available. To the top of Perseus' left hand, by the way, the statue is 13.25" from the base up, not just 12". The size is perfect. It fills a space magnificently. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Perseus. The poor (yet sexy) Medusa was sexually chosen (raped) by that weasel Poseidon inside Athena's temple, and so Athena (like all the ancient Greek divinities) took her anger out not on her uncle Poseidon, but on the victim Medusa, whom she cursed with snake hair and eyes that turned mortals into stone! So she was technically a monster and did, I suppose, have to be whacked out. Hermes lent Perseus his flyin' shoes and hat (both beautifully depicted here), and Perseus looked at Medusa's mirror image in a shield (ignored by Cellini) to be able to find and behead her. The decapitation is dreadful, and there is all sorts of gore coming from Medusa's beautiful head (its face still distorted with pain) and from the neck of her beautiful body, which lies harshly contorted and sculpted in whole as the base of the sculpture under Perseus' left foot. Perseus himself has a spectacular body and his face is looking down, perhaps in order not to see the deadly head but also, perhaps, in regret. Cellini created a true baroque masterpiece! It's the whole story in one image! And Design Toscano has done true justice to the true sculpture lover on a budget! Five big stars!

I collect Greek and Roman reproductions, and appreciate authentic quality of pieces. This piece is a reproduction of a Renaissance artist's statue, Cellini, but it's Greek mythological theme fits well with my collection. The workmanship and detail of this statue are excellent, almost like actual carved marble. It's gory, but it's Perseus cutting off the head of Medusa, so, what are you gonna do? LOL

When we say details sometimes not so, but this Persius Medusa details are really amazing. The toes of Persius is a perfect work of art. I received the items nicely secured and in perfect condition. It adds a classic atmosphere in my room. Greek mythology fascinates me a lot. I wish Medusa has more snakes on this item.

This sculpture worked perfectly for a store display to tell the legend of the origin of red coral - the blood of The Medusa. Great detail and quality. Embellished with bracelet detail.

A great piece- the faces of Perseus and Medusa are a bit narrower than in the original sculpture; besides that, a faithful reproduction. (I had to put a blur over the genitals of the figure in the photos so that Amazon would publish the review, which is odd, since they aren't blurred in the photos of the Amazon product description.)

Beautiful. Exquisite details. I love it! The white marble creates an outstanding exhibit. This statue proves that anything is possible, including killing Medusa. Or making a perfect statue!
