Somewhat more expensive but it is definitely higher quality
This Milliard Deluxe Diplomat Folding Bed – Twin Size - is somewhat more expensive but it is definitely higher quality. This is a folding, rollaway, bed designed for occasional use. You *could* use it on a regular basis but don't expect the comfort of a conventional bed. If you are looking for something to sleep on nightly but can be folded away when not in use, I suggest looking at this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ8HWBU/ (as long as you are able to get on and off of a mattress that is on the floor.) It arrives mostly assembled but you will need to do some assembly. The necessary tools are included and the assembly instructions are pretty good. I encountered no issues. The mattress arrives in a vacuum sealed, heavy duty, plastic, bag. You will need to carefully cut the plastic bag open and remove it for the mattress to begin to expand. It take a few hours to fully expand. There is definitely some off gassing of the foam in the mattress so it's helpful to let it expand outside on a porch or patio. The mattress in memory foam and yeah, although it says it is a 5" mattress, it doesn't quite measure 5" thick. It's definitely twin size though and twin size sheets fit properly. The unique thing about this mattress is that it is double sided. One side is a softer foam and the other side is a firmer foam so you can choose your comfort level.. It also has a zip off cover that can be laundered should the cover become stained or soiled. I love the wheels, which allow you to roll the folded up bed out of the way easily. The frame feels quite sturdy but do note that the recommended weight limit is 250lbs. I also love the mattress retaining bars at the head and foot of the bed, which keeps the mattress from sliding off. I did buy a canvas storage cover for this bed when it's not in use and I recommend it for appearance and to prevent the bed from getting dusty. This bed really is surprisingly comfortable and it's not noisy, which is usually a big problem in less expensive, roll away, beds. It provides good, even, support and a pleasant night's sleep. Perfect for when one of my kids has a surprise. overnight, guest.

The Bed to Buy
I bought this, rather than a bed, because it's for occasional visitor overflow, and can be tucked away when not in use. This bed is worth every penny. The mattress truly is double-sided, and you can tell the difference in firmness. Regular twin sheets fit perfectly. Once the bed is set up it's rock solid. Folding for storage is so easy I can do it by myself. The casters roll effortlessly, making slotting this in the smallest space very easy. If you need an occasional extra bed, this is the bed you should buy. I expect to use it for many more years.

Well made and comfortable for more than just a few nights
This folding bed is the best. My husband and I ordered it when I was diagnosed with an illness that required us to have family and friends staying here for a week or two at a time. We have just a small office for guests so we needed something that we could quickly set up and easily move out of the way during the day/between visitors. We considered a lot of options. I also read the reviews of the different Millard models before deciding to spend more on the Diplomat, and I'm so glad I did. The bed was just what I hoped it would be-- easy to roll/fold, even by myself; sturdy, firm enough to support but not uncomfortably hard; and long/wide enough for people like me who move around a lot. It fits along the wall behind the door in a small room and really doesn't take up much space. The mattress quality is excellent for a folding bed-- much better than other options I've tried over the years. The frame seems well made and is very, very sturdy-- no springing with each move. And the regular twin bed dimensions make it feel more like a "real" bed- it never feels like you have to balance on a plank like some narrower ones I've slept on. All of our guests said it was really comfortable for longer term. I thought maybe they were just being polite, but I ended up sleeping on it for a week recently, and honestly I never got tired of it. I have some back issues so was pleasantly surprised. I can set it up/take it down by myself without a problem (extend the legs *before* you undo the hook :0) ). We've had it for almost a year and a half now with people using it steadily for about 6 months last year and occasionally since then, and I don't notice a difference in the support/comfort. Honestly I can't think of any downsides-- money very well spent; it's going to our new house with us. Update: It's six years later, and the bed is still in good shape. I slept on this for three and a half months last year when my husband got home from the hospital, and I'm sleeping on it for a week now. It's starting to feel a little flatter, but still comfortable for me.

Very good quality at a reasonable price
This bed came extremely quickly - only 2 days after I ordered it. The instructions were fairly clear, although there was one place where the company could have been clearer. In the package contents list, they showed each of the items but did not say where two of them would be found: those two items were tied to the bed frame, in a hard-to-see area. Until I found those items, I thought that some parts were missing. Also, in one of the enlarged areas showing proper placement of some parts, it was hard to determine which parts should go where because the enlargement was blurry. I was surprised to find such a comfortable yet firm mattress on a foldaway bed. When I tested it after assembling it, I almost fell asleep immediately. The bed is good, and the delivery was outstanding in timeliness and safe handling and packaging of the bed. The only reason I’m rating this item at 4 stars and not 5 is the lack of complete clarity as noted above. As a matter of fact, I am seriously considering buying another bed right now: soon we’ll need another one, so it would be nice to save some money on Amazon Days.

If you want it comfortable READ THIS!!
My brother comes to visit often. Usually he sleeps on the couch, which isn't really comfortable for him because it's small and he feet / legs go off the end. I needed something that would be easy to store and easy to roll out for his visits to make him more comfortable. Took me forever to pick an item, and this one seemed to fit most of my needs. I always read reviews, and after reading the reviews on this bed, I decided to also order a mattress topper to make it slightly more comfortable. After all, how comfortable can a 4" mattress really be anyways? I mean, realistically. I loved that most reviewers said it was very firm, which means that indentations from the bars below are not likely to be felt while sleeping. So I ordered this bed and the Zinus 1.5 Inch Swirl Gel Memory Foam Air Flow Topper to go on top. The topper was only $21, so it was inexpensive in case it didn't help much. We received this on Christmas Eve. It was easy to put together. Well, easy for my brother to put together. I'm too weak to lift it. The mattress that came with it inflated in a few hours to the full height in the middle. The ends still haven't inflated fully yet, they are probably about 3 3/4" right now. The wire mesh was harder than it looked, I thought it would be springy from pictures. But it was not, it is welded and strong metal. Very flat and no spring to them. Which was even better. Then we added the mattress topper. Can I just say that this "temporary" bed is more comfortable now than my own bed? It is great for bad backs or side sleepers once you add the topper. The included mattress is very firm like the other people have said. The topper adds the perfect squishyness without compromising the firm base needed to keep your back straight. My brother is about 280lbs (give or take 20lbs) and a side sleeper. He said it was really comfortable when sleeping on his side without hurting his shoulder. If you are on the fence about ordering this due to other reviews saying the bed it too firm, get the topper I mentioned above! You will NOT be disappointed! I highly recommend this product.

Easy to Assemble and Stash When Not Needed - Plus Update
I put this bed together a few days ago by myself. I'm a average sized, 64 year old woman with some skills, but there really was no challenge, IMHO, but for the weight, which wasn't even an issue for me. All you need to do is screw in the threaded feet/wheels and the mattress supports on the ends. A ,pretty worthless, open end wrench and an allen wrench are provided for these tasks. You fold the sides up and lock them in place, then put both sides down, securing them as instructed, and lay the plastic enclosed, deflated mattress on, and carefully remove the plastic. You are instructed to leave the mattress re-inflate for a day or two for full comfort, as you need to do with most of these types of foam core mattresses. I made the bed, adding a slightly padded mattress cover, but haven't yet slept on it as it's at an apartment that we occasionally use throughout the year. I did lay on it and it seemed rather firm compared to my regular bed, but it had just been unwrapped an hour or so earlier. I will add to this review after having slept on it. It is a full sized twin bed, though the mattress is thin compared to a spring mattress, but I expected that. If I can't sleep well on it, I will look into adding a foam topper, but that remains to be seen. It's nice that it can be made even smaller and shorter for storage by folding the sides down again, as it was when shipped, which I wasn't aware you could do when I ordered it. I'm not sure how well the mattress would fold if doing this, but assume it would be doable as it's pliable foam. In my opinion, this is a much better alternative than a sofa-bed as a temporary sleeping arrangement, if you have the storage space. Even without yet actually sleeping through a night on it, it's more comfortable than any sofa-bed I've ever slept on as there are no rails poking you through the mattress. It's nice to have the space of a full sized twin too, and normal linens fit adequately. I'm hopeful that I can get a restful sleep and I will add to my review after actually spending nights on it. Edit - I finally have had a chance to sleep on this for a few nights. The first night, I have to say, did not go that well. The bed felt too hard and I didn't get a lot of sleep, in spite of being very tired. The next few nights, however, were MUCH better, and I slept without interruption for hours, which is uncommon for me even at home. The foam is supportive while being firm. I didn't miss the depth of mattress on a regular, spring type mattress. The full-sized twin is easy to sleep on without feeling cheated for space, though I'm not a large person at 5' 5" and average middle-age weight. I'm super happy with my purchase and recommend that you try it for a few nights before you pass judgement. I did put this mattress pad: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756Y5LZ6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_15 on it which added just a bit of pillowy softness on top.

High quality product, better than expected.
Quickly delivered and beautifully packaged. All the parts were easy to find and identify. Good instructions. The memory foam mattress, compressed in transport, impressively expanded to its full 5" thickness in a few hours. Assembly took around half an hour, from start to finish, but it was easy. Anybody could follow the step by step procedure. The frame is both light and really solid. Better looking than expected. And, of course, the 38" full twin size is generous, comfortable, and much better for an adult than any 31" product. The bed feels good, and folds up readily, though a little easier if two people do it. It wheels away smoothly for parking or storage. Outstanding for occasional use.

Pricy for sure but so far looks worth it!
We were very impressed with this cot, it came double boxed which helped aide it it’s condition upon arrival! The mattress Looks and feels like a real twin bed mattress, especially for a folding cot. We have not had a chance to use this yet but bought it for our little one when sleeping over at the grandparents for childcare during covid. Some night shifts are too late to be waking up and bringing her home after she’s fell asleep. We set it up in her room to compare it’s size next to her twin bed and it’s exactly the same. It stores perfectly into a smaller closet for storage, and because it’s a memory foam plumps back up after being folded up. We’ll be adding a free standing memory foam twin topper to give it that extra coziness and will be trying it out this weekend. I can say that just from laying on it after put together my husband and I both felt it to be very crazy and worth the money. When we bought we had the option for NEW or USED, we went with NEW because ewwwwe bed bugs, other people’s sweat and dirt no thanks! Lol I still think even for brand new $400.00 is a LOT of money for a foldable cot! So here’s hoping it holds up to wear and tear from a child jumping on it like crazy because let’s face it they all do it! 🤣

Sturdy Frame, but Consider Upgrading the Mattress
The Milliard Deluxe Diplomat Folding Bed is an excellent choice if you're looking for a durable and space-saving guest bed solution. The frame is the real star here – it’s incredibly solid, well-designed, and folds up smoothly for easy storage. This bed feels stable and supportive, which is rare for a rollaway, and the locking wheels keep it secure when in use. However, while the included mattress is okay, I highly recommend upgrading the mattress at The Foam Shop. Their mattress options are much more comfortable and supportive, making a noticeable difference, especially if this bed will see frequent use. Overall, the Milliard Deluxe Diplomat is a fantastic folding bed with a sturdy frame that’s built to last. Just swap out the mattress for a more comfortable one, and you’ll have an unbeatable guest bed setup!

Quality spare bed
I’ve had this bed a couple of months now and have slept a few full nights on it. It’s a little on the firmer side, but still Ok. I use it mainly for quick pick me up naps and it’s really good for that purpose. It was easy to assemble, the mattress fit the frame and it’s easy to fold up and move around. I like that it’s a full twin size, thus the bedding fits nicely. It also shipped and arrived much faster than the original estimate, which was nice.

Good for adults too!
The old Ikea folding cot size bed had truly had its day... I really needed a better option not only for grandchild but visiting adult children (who no longer thought crashing on the couch was fun idea!). I looked at every option and read every review on Amazon. This bed seemed like my best option, and it has worked out well. It arrived speedily and didn't take too much effort to get it installed in my home office (aka guest room). I did need some help carrying the parts upstairs as it's quite heavy (being a very well and sturdily constructed bed). The mattress is a lot thicker than the standard thinner rollaway cot ones, and pronounced "very comfortable" by two adult guests so far. Both commented that the mattress was on the firm side, but that "was OK, much better than a saggy one". A really excellent and solid buy for the money.
