Great sounding production headphones at a good price
Bought for music production and keyboard playing. They are nice and comfortable, large ear pads so they don't pinch your ears and not too heavy. Good sound isolation too. Lovely detailed and neutral sound so perfect for music production. For general music and video listening these are also fine but some may prefer a more bass focused and dynamic sound for general use.

serious headphones
Their closed-back design and snug fit deliver high passive noise attenuation. The sound profile is neutral and balanced with clear mids and highs, ideal for monitoring, mixing, and critical listening where you want to hear the music as it really is. These earphones are well designed with folding and rotating ear cuffs the headband is sturdy. The ear padding is really soft. cons The clamping force is quite strong so extended wear can give some discomfort, especially if you have a larger head. Due to their size might not be the best option for on the go use. over all I think they are good value for money but they are a more serious headphone maybe designed for more professional use .

Competent Headphones but sound a little lifeless.
I ordered these headphones to try to improve to the lower base response of my current favorites which that I have used for around 5 years. These are the Sony MDR-7506 and were around £85 when I purchased them, they produce and exceptionally detailed soundscape which sounds open and airy and the vocals are exceptional (you can understand why these are reputed to be to goto general studio headphones for around 20 years). The Bass is detailed and you can discriminate every note. However the very low bass is lacking a little depth, and the very high end is emphasised. For this is the reason I decided to look for new headphones that could improve on these areas and was prepared to increase my budget, if needed, to around £200. I eventually tried out Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, Yamaha MT5's, Adam H200, BeyerDynamics DT770 Pro 80 Ohm & DT770 Pro X 32 Ohm, before choosing the AKG K371 - see my reviews of each of these others, for my evaluation of their performance.. As to the HD 280 Pro - I found their overall design to be good and easy to use. the padding supported the weight well and they were comfortable on your ears. I'm not a great fan of the fully coiled cable as although it keeps the cable compact whilst allowing a good range of extension, when standng the coils hang clear of the floor and so you feel the whole weight hanging from the headphones. The materials used were typical of consumer headphones and seem well made. You would not expect exotic materials at this price. However for me the whole purchase depended on the sonic performance - could they improve on the Sony MDR-7506, in the lower bass depth and high frequencies, without sacrificing the parts that were excellent. In a word - No! The frequency response appeared reasonably detailed and flat, but the sound was a little lifeless. These phones may be useful when mixing at home but for listening to retail music they do not excite. The Sony revealed more detail, everywhere, and somehow added sparkle to the soundscape.

High quality on a 'budget'
For the average person, this price tag for a set of plastic headphones may seem crazy. For anyone who has owned any Sennheiser product in the past, or even this particular set of headphones, you'll know that for the quality of this set, the price really is amazing. To get any better you'd be spending anywhere above £400, and headphones in the below £50 range will pale miserably in comparison. Build quality is excellent, my last pair lasted 7 years before they finally succumbed to damage (which was completely my fault). Audio quality is fantastic, though it does lack the brain shaking bass that some people will be looking for in particular. If you're looking for a new set of headphones to thoroughly enjoy your music collection, for mixing, or even for gaming, these will not disappoint. One word of warning, the cables that feed into the left ear piece are completely and easily replaceable, as are the pads on the top and ears, but the cable that feeds audio to the right ear is not. This will be the most common point of failure, but it takes considerable effort to damage it. Both earpieces have a large degree of rotation, and extend out to suit your head size. If you have this length set at the maximum and move that right earpiece as far as it will go, both left and right, you will run the risk of damaging this wire far more quickly than usual wear and tear. If you have to fold them up tight for travel, remember not to do so when the ears are at their fully extended distance. If you take care of this headset it will last for a very long time, well past the 2 year warranty. They endured 7 years of car rides, house moves, being dropped, tossed and twisted, but be sure to take care for that right earpiece. Keep that in mind and this set will keep you going through an apocalypse. (This review is for the mk1 version, the mk2 version as I understand it is almost identical besides the difference in foam headpiece. If anything else has changed, so will this review.)

Good Headphones 🎧
Good closed back headphones great sound isolating and sound quality you can buy better but not at this price would recommend only complaint is that the cable is not removable but that's to be expected for this type of monitoring headphones

Solid & Comfy set of cans.
I've been using these since last September. The sound produced is pretty much perfect for what I want from them. Some people claim they sound flat and don't produce huge bass, that is (in my opinion at least) a good thing. For my somewhat variable hearing, these headphones are exactly what I want in terms of sound reproduction. I use them a lot for audio listening (voices over radio) and general music listening / film viewing. I have 'phones with massive bass, and whilst that is sometimes a good thing, for voice audio it certainly isn't. The high & mid tones are clear and punchy, allowing good voice definition. The bass is sufficiently powerful to give a solid, rounded sound and not overwhelm everything else and make it indistinct and mushy. Comfort-wise they fit my big, wide head and I can wear them comfortably for hours on end. The headband is fully adjustable and nicely padded, as are the earpads. They are fairly light too, despite being fairly large, further adding to the comfort during wearing. To give an idea, I wear for 3-5 hours per night (on average) whilst working and watching and so forth. The cable is a coiled type, and whilst probably fine for most uses (plugged into equipment decks, amps and what have you) I found it a bit too inflexible for my use plugged into my PC. More of an observation and not a criticism, if you were moving about with them then it keeps the cable tidy and out of the way preventing catching and snagging. So not worth a mark down in my opinion. Provided with a 1/4" to 3.5mm down converter you can use them in any device with the appropriate socket. I like Sennheiser kit, and have owned multiple pairs over the years (and still do) and have always enjoyed using them and the sound they produce, and these are no different. Don't expect massive, treacle-thick bass, if you do, you'll be disappointed. Do expect a smooth yet rounded sound experience with what (so far) have proven to be a well made bit of hardware.

Comfortable and detailed sound
I use these with my mini disc Walkman ( don’t judge me I’m old 😁 ) and they replace an old pair of indeterminate make that sound great but are now falling apart. I tell you this so you know I only wear them for usually 2 hrs max but I find these more comfortable than the old ones and they seal round my ears nicely too ( beware of traffic etc if you are out and about ) I guess sound is a very subjective thing, what I think is great others may not, also as my ears age their frequency response alters too. Bear in mind I am 70 so my ears probably don’t hear the high frequencies so well any more. Bearing that in mind I find these sound of these very detailed and treble sounds great but in fact I have to boost the bass to get a similar sound to my old set. I guess this implies the bias is towards the high frequencies.

Comfortable, accurate with great sound insulation.
Great, accurate, flat sound. I use them for mixing sound, mastering and video-editing. They are comfortable and snug but also solid and weighty. The sturdy build and the closed back means that they exclude external sounds without need for noise-cancelling. I can be working comfortably next to someone taking a meeting. Sometimes I just wear them with nothing playing when I need to concentrate! They look great as well.

Superb Headphones for Audio Monitoring & General Playback.
After a lot of research & comparisons with Studio Monitoring Headphones in this league, both price wise & functionality wise, between the Audio Technica ATH-M20x or 30x (a popular & formidable product) & the Sony MDR7506 (classic & iconic studio headphones), what finally made the choice for me was a super discounted deal on amazon for these Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones! At 6.5k, they are way more than a steal. First impression, right as you open the box packaging, is of a premium, well built & heavy duty pair of studio headphones. Box contains the headphones, which come with an attached output cord in a 3.5mm Jack with a 6.5mm adapter & a Safety Instruction guide, that’s it . . . No muss, No Fuss! The cord length provided is just perfect for my usage. These headphones are primarily going to be used for Video & Audio editing on a Macbook Pro, for 4K & Dolby Vision content, so the max distance is usually a standard desktop or office table setup, so the cord length is sufficient. Overall, build & touch n feel quality is off the charts, especially considering the price & the other options available in the same price/features segment. As soon as you pick up the headphones, you know you’ve picked up a premium brand. Finally, the sound quality, is by far the best I’ve experienced till date on any “over the ear”headphones, which were bought for personal use. The audio levels are crisp & clean, totally studio quality. The Noise Cancellation feature is highly effective & makes tuning out from the world, when editing a music video, a cakewalk. Despite looking like heavy duty headphones, these are fairly lightweight & haven’t caused any major issues after a few hours of usage. The cup size is nice & large enough to cover an entire average sized ear. The only caveat so far is the shape of the overhead band, which is way too wide, especially on a bald narrow head, so they may look a bit funny, but it is an extremely small nit-picky thing in what is otherwise an exceptionally fantastic piece of audio equipment. Although it is just the first day of use, the purpose & functionality of the headphones has been a 10/10 for the sound quality, on all audio trials & tests so far. Whether you’re looking for a pair of headphones for professional audio recording/mixing/engineering work or just to plug into your home device & hear crisp, clean & balanced sound, these HD280 PROs are absolutely perfect. Extremely impressed & happy with the purchase. Two Thumbs Up!
