If Al Jalalayn is not detailed enough for you, then perhaps you should delve into ibn Kathir’s monumental work. Serious researchers might opt for the full 30-volume version, but this abridged edition will give valuable insights into historical background – at times essential – as well as ahadith which support or supplement the text of the Qur’an. As far as tafsirs go, this has never been bettered and is a must for anyone seeking a comprehensive guide to the holy ayat.

What makes this tafsīr so powerful is that it explains the Qur'aan with the Qur'aan itself, with authentic hadith, and with the understanding of the righteous predecessors. You can find they repeatedly copied the ayat includes the meaning behind it for 2-3 pages in a row, though i don’t regret buying these books they’re great regardless
