I buy loose leaf tea because I prefer the robust flavors of larger, higher quality tea leaves. This is not that. It’s mostly tiny pieces with a few bigger leaves thrown in to make it look better. You can tell by just holding the envelope and feeling how dense it is that it’s mostly tiny pieces. I use an electric kettle set to 180F to not scald green tea, and yet this tea still brews up bitter and sour. I have had sencha loose leaf tea before and it has a subtle earthy, nutty flavor to it. This is missing that completely. It tastes like making tea with lawn clippings. This is probably the most unpleasant green tea I’ve purchased on Amazon to date. Update: I contacted the seller, and complained about the quality of the tea and asked for a refund and they were happy to refund me. I'm updating my review to 3 stars for the excellent customer service. Still can't recommend their Sencha, though.

Fragrant, flavorful sencha green tea. When this item is available and on sale, I’ll pick some up. It’s an organic sencha that tastes good, comes in a large amount and is often reasonably priced. It smells fresh, has a deep green color for the leaves, and not too many stems. The tea is a pale green and brews with an astringent, mildly bitter flavor that I like.

The overall rating seems to be for the brand, i.e., for various types of tea from the FGO brand. This review is for FGO Organic Sencha Loose Leaf Tea, Resealable Bag, 16oz. The flavor and aroma are good. However, it does appear to be fairly low-grade tea, since there are small twigs scattered throughout, and the leaves range from powder to a typical size for tea leaves. I think the quality of Davidson's gunpowder green tea is a bit higher, but I'll buy whichever appeals to me at the moment -- and has the lower price, since they're both satisfactory and acceptable to me. After all, they're different styles of green tea.

Good flavor and an excellent price. I'm not a green tea connoisseur though.
