Sparkson's Illustrated Guide to ECG Interpretation, 2nd Edition

Great book for learning all things cardiac

A great mixture of whimsy and concise but comprehensive text. I personally never could finish Dubin’s text nor could endorse purchasing his book on moral grounds alone.I wish this book had existed during my first few years of medical school. I truly think that it would have provided me with a better foundation and attitude towards learning about the heart and EKG interpretation.For visual learners especially this book is a treasure and could be appropriate for all members of a medical team (EMT to MD/DO, and everyone in between.) I will recommend this book to other students and trainees I work with in the future. Happy learning leads to retention, not regurgitation.

Helped a lot in learning ecgs. Book was very entertaining and engaging

I am an Internal Medicine Physician that loves learning about EKG and reviewing concepts so I bought this book out of curiosity and because of the drawings. As soon as I started reading it I could tell there was a lot of thought put into every detail in this book. I still haven't completed it. But to this point I have noticed it is very concise yet gives enough explanation to understand while not missing important concepts. It has the simplicity of “The Only ECG Book You Will Ever Need” with the complexity of “ECG Pocket Brain” ... with added memory tools to simplify learning. It has excellent narration that makes reading seamless as if you were reading a novel, and the pictures are funny without being distracting (actually aiding knowledge retention). I have a passion for learning and teaching, and a passion for studying EKGs and I can say hands down this book is better than the Dubin (personally i dont enjoy reading that book). I am a paramedic and an educator. I absolutely love this book. For the beginner, it's easy to understand and entertaining enough to hold the reader's interest through some pretty dry content. It uses a great combination of illustration, effective explanation, and creative analogies to explain ECGs. Learning ECGs can be daunting at first, but this makes it so much more inviting.If you're struggling with ECGs, this book will help you. If you're an ECG wiz, you'll find this amusing at the very least. This is a book that is truly made to teach anyone.And I'm just picturing my cardiomyocytes laughing hysterically right now...
