Black oil sunflower seeds for birds
Black oil sunflower seeds for birds. Good quality. A lot of it. Ordered for my Mom because she likes to add to her bird food mix. She is very happy. The only bags I could find locally were like 30lbs. WAY too much for me OR my Mom to lift. This bag is the perfect size. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. I receive/accept NO free products or discounts that are not available to all shoppers- ever. As a top 30 reviewer, I've been doing reviews for over 25 years with Amazon - over 6,200 reviews posted, those reviews have been viewed well over 50,000 times, including well over 26,000 likes. BOTTOM LINE: I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

Tufted Titmouse Approved
This is my first bird feeder, so I don't speak from a lot of experience, but here in North Georgia, the local flock of Tufted Titmice, Carolina Chickadees, White-Breasted Nuthatches and Brown Headed Nuthatches have enthusiastically endorced these sunflower seeds. There's also a Cardinal who stops by on occasion and I had a Pine Warbler pop in for a snack, too. I put up the feeder two months ago (mid-August) and tried mixed seed first, but the birds barely touched it except to pick out the sunflower seeds! I was glad to find this affordable bag on Amazon. It does have a few twigs mixed in, but I don't think it's a crazy amount and the birds don't seem to mind. After about 5 weeks with these sunflower seeds, the birds have definitely started eating more (I'd say I'm up to filling my small feeder 3/4 full for the week), and although I still have at least one more week left in the first bag, the second bag is on standby and looks to be the same quality. While I can't compare it to other brands, for the purpose of feeding some backyard birbs and borbs, this Novice Bird Nerd gives these seeds a 10/10!

Birds like it
I started putting this is my feeders and it has attracted so many birds, they love it and eat it so fast! My only complaint is that the bag has a lot of random wood chips and has consistently in the past couple bags too. I’m sure it is probably hard to control that but its frustrating because it is sold by the weight and having all that extra stuff in it means less seeds for your money. This is how much I picked out in one refill of my window feeder and you can see them in the bag as well. Overall it’s a great product I just think the quality control could be a little better.

Good Seed
This is excellent bird seed, and the bird's definitely love it, so I'm giving it a 5 star rating. That said, I found a bulk 20 pound package of black oil sunflower seed locally for about 1/4 of the cost per pound. Ultimately, I'd say to go ahead and get this if you don't have black oil sunflower seed available locally... or if you just want to get a small amount to "test drive" this type seed for your birds without having to leave your home. I will say that in my area, the birds love black oil sunflower seeds more than anything else. I primarily use it to feed starlings, though there's a few other birds mixed in such as jays and doves. A trick I've found is to fill up my feeder, and the birds will empty it in 2-3 days. In the process, they will knock a lot of uneaten seeds to the ground under the feeder, so I'll leave the feeder empty for at least a day to force the birds to clean up the seeds off the ground. This helps to keep my costs down, I don't get any stray seedlings showing up in my lawn that I don't want, and it hasn't caused me to lose any "customers" by making them clean up their own mess.

Birds and squirrels treats
I enjoy leaving food options out for the mama squirrel and her lil niblets that have been coming to my yard for years to forage. I also leave these out for the birds, mainly a murder of crows that are very aware that my yard is where the goodies are. This bag is a fair price for the size and every one I've received has been without any filler or mold, just a full bag of seeds. I don't mind the empty shells left behind but something you might want to consider.
