Solid choice
Alright, so I have seen good and bad things about this headset. I bought them to use on my ps4. Lots of positive things to say about them. The sound quality is pretty outstanding. Lots of bass and very clear loud audio. The mic works very well, and there are little scroll buttons on the headset to adjust volumes of mic and sound. The mic is not adjustable type though like others, it's stiff so you just flip up to mute and flip it down to talk. It fits nicely, the ear pieces are comfy and I almost can't hear anything else when I put them on. Now, there are some negatives. You do have to charge them when not using them. This can be a problem if you forget to charge them after you play, but I always remember so its no big deal for me. Also, they are not wireless so you plug them into your controller. Some people like wireless, again not a problem for me. Another thing, I got them on PS4 but I think I read if you get them on xbox, you have to buy a separate adapter for your controller. For PS4 you do not need one you just plug it right into controller. Overall, it is a great choice for a decent cheaper price.

Mic Monitoring! Woo!
Since there are already hundreds of reviews covering this headset here already, I'll just skip over to my personal favorite feature: mic monitoring / sidetone! I'm coming from an old PX21 headset from over a decade ago. It's held up well for 10+ years, but it was time to move on to a newer (and comfier) headset. So, here I am with the Recon 200. I am glad to see that Turtle Beach has maintained their signature mic monitoring feature with the new Recon 200 headset. The monitoring volume is adjustable, clear, and can go loud enough to really keep your own voice level in check while playing even the loudest of games. My only complaint (compared to the PX21) is that the mic appears to be far more sensitive and has a tendency to pick up noises away from your mouth. The old PX21's mic was designed to sit closer to your mouth and did not pick up much (if any) noise that was more than a couple inches away from the actual microphone itself. Not a biggest fan of this change with the new, shorter microphone design. Anyhow, since there aren't many options for gaming headsets with good mic monitoring / sidetone for console players, this is likely the best one you can get for <$50 USD. I'm highly satisfied and would recommend it to anyone looking for a headset in this price range. (If you want in-depth info about the audio quality of the Recon 200, I'd suggest reading the SoundGuys review. They did a superb job. In short, this headset has a fairly neutral audio profile, which is common among Turtle Beach headsets. The mic is clear and easily audible to others, but does filter out much of the bass in your voice.) (Yes, mic monitoring / sidetone can be completely turned off if you don't like this feature. There is an adjustable dial controlling the volume for this specifically (separate from game volume) on the left ear cup.) (No, there is no delay or lag with mic monitoring / sidetone whatsoever, just like with my old PX21. That's why I like this headset. I use it with my PS4, and plan to use it with the PS5 eventually.)

Hear everything,defeat everyone.
Got the new recon 200 today. I have been trying a ton of headphones and headsets over the past year or so in my search for one with adequate sound, comfort and mic. The recon 200 have hit on many levels. The always on bass boost is an experience like you have never had, which of course is not going to be for everyone. In games like H1Z1 and CODS Blackout beta, I am able to get the drop on people thanks to the amplified sound. Since we're talking about the sound, yes the controller of the PS4 is plenty loud for these (most likely thanks to the amp built in) if you're tired of weak volume from the controller and don't want to purchase a separate amp, this could very well be the one you want to try. User guide says 12 hours per charge ( since they're amplified they do need charged) and I have to see yet if that will hold up. If you need a longer go then that, consider the stealth 300. Mic has been great so far as well, swivel to mute is such a clutch feature! It's definitely not an "audiophile" headphone but for a gaming headset with crisp audio, bass you can feel and comfort for hours? Turtle Beach hit a home run on this one!

Decent headset, but with a few issues
I waivered between 3 and 4 stars on this one. I bought this shortly after buying a Runmus headset and being disappointed so much that I consulted a few expert reviews rather than just users. This does everything the experts said it would, but I still find myself pining for my old PS4 Sony "silver" headset, which broke right at the center of the headband the same way the one I had before did. This is a very sturdy, comfortable headset with good sound. Almost on par with my Sony Silver set. Much more comfortable though. One thing is that it produces a "bass boost" which requires it to be charged. I have two complaints though: 1. It won't work at all if its not charged, and merely unplugging it from a turned off controller won't turn the headset off - you must switch the set to "neutral" (between the Xbox and PS4 settings on the left earmuff). 2. This bothers me immensely. The noise cancelling effect isn't something you can switch off, and causes me to hear my own voice in a disembodied, distorted way when chatting with others. Its like I have too much water in each ear. The mesh fabric of the Sony Silver set, as it turns out, was a much better solution here, letting my ears breathe and hear myself naturally while still delivering great quality sound.

Great Quality, awesome sound, affordable price headphones!!!
At first I bought a pair of headphones on Amazon from a company cause it was $19.99. I thought they would last pretty well and long. But soon, the cord started to rip and was falling apart. I took to amazon to find a pair of turtle beach because my buddy raved about them. He was not wrong when I got them. Yeah, I could of splurged for the more expensive but I do not care about charging them every once in awhile. These are great and well put together.

I wanted to like these
Bought this headset after trying 2 other different brands that I didn't like. PROS: Comfortable, light weight, good audio CONS: 3.5mm jack started to become finiky and I constantly have to jiggle it and find the perfect alignment for it to work. Sometimes have to unplug then plug back in 4-5 times for it to work -Same for the charging port. I plug it in to charge and it doesn't always work. I have to angle the cord and prop something underneath it to make sure the connections are touching. Last night I went to play and the headset was dead. You can keep them plugged into power while playing but I had to tilt my head just slightly or else the connections wouldn't work and the headset would turn off. SUPER ANNOYING! -Sometimes the audio works but the mic won't. I'm always checking with my teammates and asking if they can hear me and if my mic is working. -You can't hear yourself talk when the headset is on. I find myself talking REALLY loud in order to hear myself. Not a good thing since I usually play after the kids go to bed and my wife constantly has to ask me to talk softer. I'm surprised we're still married. What I'll do is I will slide one of the ear pads off my ear half way to hear myself then I will talk normal. But then you lose a huge amount of game audio by doing that. I'm very disappointed.

Works Great - Xbox One - Smaller Head
I got my first gaming headset in 2011 along with my first Xbox. Gaming headsets have definitely come a long way since then. I started out with a pair of Turtle Beaches, so I definitely wanted a pair to go with my Xbox One. I was using a wired headset before that didn't need to be charged, so I was a little confused about why this one needed to be charged, but it holds charge great. When I have time to game, I can be on for around 4-6 hours at a time and it has only died on me once, but that was human error since I thought my charging stand was plugged in, but it in fact was not. Other than that, this headset can go a good 16-18 hours on a single full charge. Which is quite great. I would also like to warn that when you are done gaming, you DO need to turn the headset OFF or it will stay on and lose battery life. Learned THAT the hard way. It is also adjustable and fits well on my small head (22/f). The one and only thing I can claim I 'dislike' about this headset is the mic itself. I am used to the mics that you can bend to wherever you like that have the foam muff on the end of them. I do prefer that style since I talk rather softly and prefer to keep the mic closer to my mouth since sometimes this mic style doesn't always pick up my voice. Other than this, it works great, fits great, is comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. Would recommend this product! Best of luck! -Loren

Way over sold, massively under delivered.
Update Christmas 2020 - I ordered 2 sets of steel series 9x. After about a year of use I've really grown to dislike these and finally decided to buy a better set. I even got my gf a set to match. The slide wheels for both volume and mic monitoring give static and cutting out at the slightest bit of movement and need to be played with in order to get correct audio output on both channels, much like the cheapest of cheap stereos and CD players from the 90s would do. Other players in the x-box party can hear the plasticky creaking in the hinges of the ear cups when I move, grab a drink, etc. "Oh, Tarz is getting restless again!" Annoying... These headphones seem to cause an issue with X-box party chat where the "on-screen" indicators that show who is talking will randomly always show my name as speaking, even when muted. This issue comes and goes at times, and apparently, while happening, other party members have reported hearing a slight echo, also still when muted, until the headset is unplugged and reconnected to the controller. I've used other headsets with the same controller without having this issue. My biggest gripe with this headset is the simple fact that I can't even count how many times I've forgotten and left them turned on after a game session and the battery dies in a couple hours. Extremely frustrating when you get an invite to the party later or the next day and you throw the 'phones on only to realize you now need to either charge them while playing (making not one but two cords if you can manage a charge cable, which is my driving factor for going wireless) or charge them for at least an hour to get enough battery life to last a decent session, and while you're deciding what to do or fiddling with your cables and getting situated your party members are wondering why you're so silent. I honestly am saddened by the fact that I've tormented myself using such an inferior product for so long, but.. A budget is a budget, and while mine has grown over the past year, I will not be helping Turtle Beach's, likely ever again. Oh one last note, I have seen up to the advertised 12 hours (although non-consecutive) battery life on some of the charges I didn't forget to turn them off. Original review - These headphones have great clarity of sound, and if clarity is your top priority these are a good option to consider. Voices, footsteps, distant gunfire/explosions, and especially ambient noise can not only be heard but pinpointed easily. Your game will improve over typical 5.1 surround sound setups. You just don't hear things the same without headphones. That's about the only pro I've been able to find really. Except the flip to mute Mic option, that's pretty cool until it stops working. (Edit) Not that cool as the boom is pivot only not adjustable in any other way. I'm naturally soft spoken and literally had to teach myself to talk louder because party members kept saying "you sound so far away/quiet/I can't hear you/you're cutting out"... So I guess I have Turtle Beach to thank for that. For an "amplified" headset they have a disappointingly weak overall performance and seriously lack that boom in the bass department. I use mine with the new style Xbox controller with the 3.5mm jack built in. Sound seems louder when the switch is on PS4 but sound is clearer on Xbox which is odd, and the switch is sometimes difficult to not only get back into the center "off" position but also to remember to turn off after I'm done playing. It's also, for me, difficult to differentiate between the two volume wheels when the headphones are on my head without putting a finger on each wheel. They claim up to 12 hours charge on the battery and I've seen an average of about 8 hours with zero microphone use, and then about a 2 hour wait before the charge light indicates a full charge. They arrived with no charge and took about 3.5 hours to fully charge the "first" time. Comfort must have gotten thrown out the window in engineering. Initially they feel great, but 45-60 minutes later the average adult head will start to really feel fatigued by the pressure the cushion puts on the very top of the head and the squeeze the band puts on the sides of the head via the ear cups. Really makes me feel like they are only meant to feel great for the first few moments you try them in the store before you buy them kind of thing. Prescription glasses wearers beware, these will irritate you immensely, refer to band tension comment above. You've been warned. I have a pair of generic brand of on-ear Bluetooth headphones that outperform these by far in terms of both volume and deep boomy bass when wired to a controller, and when wired they do not require a charge therefore they do not get any amplification, and the kicker there is that you can't forget to turn them off! A mini-nuke going off in the distance tickles a bit with my other set, the turtle beach's just.. sound. I can hear clearly, but I'm just not.. Immersed. Ya feel me? Would I buy another set if these got broken or lost? Absolutely not. I'll pony up a few more dollars for something better, probably from a different brand. Turtle Beach just didn't deliver with these headphones.

I faced 3 problems with it just in 2 weeks of use.
A week or two weeks later it started hurting my ears and didn’t feel comfortable + a new problem appeared that you can hear a buzzing annoying sound when you turn on the headset + the charging was annoying for a wired headphone.

EXCELENTE CALIDAD

Great Headset!
Money well spent!! I’ve been using them for the past month and they’ve worked great. Battery’s really good. I put them on charging after I’m done using them so I’ve never had to deal with charging them while I’m playing. Sound quality is amazing! Definitely recommend this turtle beach headset.
