So far so good...
I've never used batana oil before so this was a first-time experience. I have also only used it once so I will have to come back an update this review for its claims of supporting hair growth. For now, I will just review the application process and my first impressions. The oil is brown and ironically smells like chocolate. That could just be me but I swear that's what it smells like (for all I know, it's supposed to - remember, first-time user here) which is fine by me. I enjoyed the smell and the texture was thick enough to feel like it was going to do something but not so think I couldn't work with it. I followed the directions (which were honestly a bit small to read, but managed alright) which said to warm the product between your hands and then apply from root to end. I split my hair into three sections (top, middle, underneath) and applied from the underside first making my way up. My hair was dry and is very curly (3c I think) and past my shoulders in length (not sure exactly how far it lands after that) and sucked this stuff up like it was craving it. I used several "handfuls" of this stuff to apply to my roots down to the ends on each section, just enough to feel like I had applied enough and I still have plenty of the product left over. I was honestly worried about that after it sucked it up the first time but it seemed to stretch better than I thought. I coated every strand (as far as I could ascertain) and put my hair up in a clip and proceeded about my business doing things around the house. I probably had the product on my hair more than an hour (even though the instructions said "up to an hour" but I got busy doing a project and lost track of time. It wasn't much past the hour though. I hopped in the shower and proceeded to rinse and then wash out and condition my hair afterwards. I could tell a difference before I left the shower that my hair felt softer and more moisturized than it has in a while. I towel-dried my hair and braided it damp. The end of my ponytail usually feels pretty coarse and dry but right now it feels really soft - and I'm very impressed by that! My hair has been difficult to treat in my older years and finding a product it likes that works this well is like finding a diamond in the rough - a near impossible feat. My less than favorite aspect of any product like this is having to apply it on my hair because my dry, curly strands are a nightmare to detangle and get ready for an application like this and the time commitment to wait for the product to do its thing - I don't have much of a life, but I don't like waiting around for something to do its thing. However, I'm so impressed by this product, I think I'll keep using it just because I like how my hair feels after just one use. I am curious, as well, if the hair growth claims are true, but really I just like how much better my hair feels. I don't think there was a recommended use frequency but once a week is the best I can do so we will see if that is good enough to see full results. I will try to update this review after some time using the product longer, but for now, I'm impressed and would recommend this if you are dealing with dry hair that needs a little something extra.

Not for my scalp and hair, but may work for yours.
I think that the quality might be in the product, but I could not use this more than once on my scalp due to the oiliness. So, I cannot attest to any help with hair growth. Certain cultural types will probably benefit from this and how the oil reacts to their scalp and hair type. I would say give it a try, you might like the look or feel, and maybe it will help with your hair growth. I gave 3 stars because I cannot assess its intended purpose, which is hair growth, but it seems like an okay product if you want some absorption or calming of strands.

I was influenced
Using this took some getting used to. It's an interesting texture and takes a bit to feel like it's absorbing on my hair. The smell is okay and that's normally the most important thing to me (can't stand bad smelling products). A little seems to go a long way so I'm set for a bit.

So far so good
I tested this Batana oil against another Batana oil. This Batana oil was 100% and had a super creamy nut butter texture and rich color. The other had a lighter color, whipped pudding texture, and an aloe Vera scent in it. I washed my hair before applying the Batana oils because I needed to start on clean hair and my hair really needed to be washed. As you can see, the section of hair I used this Batana oil on was very stringy and limp in the before pic. Directions say to leave this on for a few minutes and shampoo out. I left mine on for 5 hours because I had a lot to do that day but I did cover it with a plastic cap and scarf. I cowashed (washed with conditioner only, not shampoo) the Batana oils out of both sides of my hair, and this brand without the scents in it actually brought back some curls to the back/side of my head! I flat ironed that part of my hair a lot because I wanted to heat train it, so the fact that this Batana oil infused enough nutrients into my hair to bring some type of curl back is AMAZING. The other side with the other brand of batana oil was okay, but not like this side!! I plan to use it again this weekend and maybe once a week every week to see if I get more positive results! Stay tuned!

smooth and buttery, yet not oily. Absorbs completely into skin, very good on hair
Extra soft and creamy, which makes me wonder if there is anything else in here. However, it absorbs completely in my skin with no grease or oil left behind. That bodes well that it has a significant proportion of actual batana oil (I have noticed that every product says 100% batana oil, but many have other ingredients mixed in whether mentioned or not). I have been using batana oil every single day for three months at least. Have tried so many "brands". Many are absolute junk. This is not too shabby. I will happily use this up, and perhaps will update. As of right now, I can see sprigs of new growth for sure in the spots that I apply to daily. This is not directly from this brand as i have only been using it a few days. But I have been using various brands for a few months. I rub some into my thinning spots, I also do leave in, as well as "treatments" where I keep it in for a few hours or overnight. I dont always reach my scalp (save for the thinning spots), but my hair is in contact with batana oil every day. Short term I notice my hair is just nicer. More luster, healthier looking and feeling. Longer term, I am hoping the few little sprigs of new growth (after using at least 2 months straight, consistently) here and there is happening all over my head. I am late 40s, minimal gray, nearly waist length hair, and a wild mix of waves and curls. I dont do anything to my hair otherwise; I just use batana oil. Prior to batana oil I just used the occasional hair oil. I am much more mindful now with the batana oil, which could be why I am seeing progress. 3.5/4 stars. Most I rate 1 star with a few 4 and 5 stars. I can not say for 100% certaintly which is a wholly legit product, if any. I will update if need be.

So soft and smells nice!
This Batana oil smells absolutely amazing and works well also. However from other reviews I’ve read from other products, based on texture, I don’t believe this is pure batana oil. Yes it made my hair feel super soft without weighing it down and it was very easy to use which makes it worth the price but I’d rather have pure oil versus a mixture.

This version smell great and very mosituizing.
This version smell wonderful! Most of the other batana oils that I have tried smelled so bad I used them only on my feet. This oil I've used on my hair, once a week as a mask, and mostly on my hands and feet. My hair has it's own mind as it has gone gray, and the oil seems to help tame it a bit. Apply, comb thru, add the hair cap that is designed for this use (has a reflective lining like a lunch bag), then cook for about an hour. Rinse, then shampoo & condition as usual. My hands and feet love the oil mask that they get once a week, and probably would like to have the oil more often. I don't need much for my collar length hair. As for my feet, I slather them, add a plastic bag, then heavy socks and cook for about an hour. (More if I get sidetracked watching TV or on my laptop.) I really don't have anything left to wipe off or rub in. I do wear socks until I shower just to make sure if anything is on my feet, it doesn't get into the carpet. An added plus - this is one of the less expensive version of batana oil that I've found. So great scent and price == will reorder.
