Sony Microphone ECM-XM1, 154274912, XLR | Shotgun, Professional Camcorder Compatible

Purchased to augment an older ECM-XM1. This one is used with a Sony HXR-NX80 NXCAM. The fit was a little loose even with the included, rubber sleeve; too loose for my use filming action sports on the run, so I had to thicken the clamped area of the mic with a couple rotations of electrical tape. Since it cannot be seen while connected to the XLR handle, all is good and all is secure. Performance wise, it replicates the fine quality of the original, Sony purchased ECM-XM1. Best of all, the price is significantly lower than purchasing through one of the big, NY Photo/Video superstores, and was delivered within 3 business days! (XLR cable and sleeve included).

It’s a Sony mic and it fits the FX6 microphone holder. I had a spacer and a sennheiser mke600 which is a good on camera mic but it’s long and got in the way. I saw this and thought “well I only need it on camera for scratch audio or scrum interviews, why not?” That said, the mic performs solid. If you have a Sony and want a small mic that sounds good enough and gives you the smaller footprint you want, then look no further. I honestly can’t tell the difference in my news pieces and neither can my boss so, I recommend it!

I got this hoping to cut out the background noise that my other mic picked up and it did do that, but I had to add a canonical form behind it. I was hoping it would be a bit more sensitive though. It works, just not as perfect as I had thought it was going to be. I would have liked a bit more sensitive and possibly a tiny bit more directional. It does pick up a voice fairly well, especially if aimed properly, if you can manage.

I have ordered this mic from two sellers now. Both came as described. Happy to have this mic for my Sony FX series cameras, as they fit the not so great Sony mic mount perfectly, and sound good enough to get the job done as on camera mics. Will likely get a third once I have another camera in need of a scratch mic.

Picked it up used...these are not inexpensive, and used ones are hard to find. The mic was an OEM mic for many pro line Sony video recorders. It has excellent sensitivity (-30dB) and good signal to noise ratio (78dB) with a frequency response of 50-20000Hz.. It is a good mic for use on the new small Sony camcorders which have a holder for an XLR mic. It is a short condenser shotgun which requires Phantom power. I was disappointed that my (used) one did not come with a foam windscreen, but I ordered a replacement and also picked up a furry windscreen for outside use as well. The furry windscreen is essential for outside use.

This microphone is affordable and works great with the Sony FX3 handle. on professional, corporate video shoots. It works great as a back up mic for me, especially if you have a Lavalier mic, or a boom mic closer to the subject. It’s not the same quality as a Shure mic, but if you’re within a few feet of the subject, it works well. I’m giving five stars because the quality matches the price of the mic well.

These shotgun microphones are often just included with the purchase of a Sony video camera. This was the case for me. I own other shotgun microphones from Schoeps, Sennheisser, Sanken, and they are great, but very expensive. This little mic is amazingly good! I have used it on professional jobs with no complaints. Often very nice to use if I am in a less than ideal environment, like rain or on a boat. I really don't want to risk a $1500.00 mic in those conditions. I now own 5 of these mics. Make 100% sure it is this exact model. Other Sony mics look identical but are not as good at all. Have Fun!

Over priced. Why show the audio interface when it’s not included with the purchase. Disappointed

This thing is great so far. Sounds great. Small and perfect for my A7sIII (With audio handle). Great price. Just hoping the lack of removable XLR doesn't cause issues down the line. Perfect for what it is.

J'ai été franchement étonné par la qualité de ce microphone Sony ECM-XM1. D'abord par le réalisme du rendu sonore: les sons enregistrés, que ce soit des sons d'ambiance, des voix (pour commentaires de films) ou des instruments de musique en acoustique, tous sont d'une grande pureté.J'ai été aussi étonné de ne pas avoir de pompage lorsque j'ai enregistré des instruments de percussion tout en restant en automatique. En conclusion voilà un excellent micro qui convient parfaitement à des enregistrements sur caméra vidéo.
