Beautiful songs and there are so many to play! The pages and book are good quality, also. Well worth the price!

Ludovico Einaudi is not (yet) well known in the United States, but he ought to be. He is my favorite composer, whose work falls in that nebulous genre variously called "neoclassical" or "new age." The music has a minimalistic flair (cf. Philip Glass), although Einaudi's work is much more melodic than Glass's. If you are not familiar with Einaudi's music, order his "Echoes" (greatest hits) CD as an excellent introduction. The sheet music to most, if not all, of the pieces on Echoes is included in this collection, as well as many other pieces. One of the strengths of this book is that Einaudi himself clearly played a heavy role in writing or editing these transcriptions. They are true, note-for-note renditions of the pieces. They are also heavily annotated in terms of dynamics. Another very appealing aspect of the book is that Einaudi's music varies quite a bit in terms of difficulty, so there will be something here for players of all ability levels. Some of the easier pieces (e.g., Limbo and Exit) could probably be played by somebody with as little as a few months or a year of piano experience. Some of them are technically very challenging and beyond my current levels (I would call myself an intermediate player). I would say that roughly half of everything I play is by Einaudi. I will never tire of it.

I'm an intermediate to advanced intermediate player who mostly plays classical music and jazz standards. I've dabbled in some New Age piano and have a few favorites like some of Yiruma's pieces, but I typically find most of that music doesn't have much replay value. Einaudi's work is somewhere between classical, new age, and pop, and it's wonderful and beautiful to play; although I've only had the music a few weeks, I expect to return over and over to this music. I was able to play every song by sight the first time, so it's not difficult to play. But it's not simplistic, either. There is a lot of room for interpretation to get the songs just right for your preferred style and playing instrument. The book itself is high-quality and the score is very clean and easy to read. This is a gem that I wouldn't hesitate to pick up.

I would consider myself to be more of an advanced pianist, and I found this music to be very easy to sight read, but it sounds beautiful despite the ease. There are a few pieces that are slightly more rhythmically challenging, which is my area of weakness, but when I took a little time to figure it out, it was fine. The pieces are beautiful. I play piano for a small-town church and the congregation members gave really positive feedback about the pieces I selected (I selected more of the pieces in a major key) And since they're fairly repetitive, you can definitely go back in the piece to extend it to fit whatever time slot you need to fill (communion can be a headache - if there are a lot of people, it can take s long time!), but it still sounds very pretty. And you can get creative and take it up or down an octave to change it up a bit and keep it interesting. Overall, a good purchase for me!

This is seriously my favorite piano book of all time. It has a great mix of easy and difficult pieces so you can enjoy playing while also challenging yourself. For reference, I'm a self-taught pianist at an intermediate level. There are plenty of songs that have less than 3 or 4 sharps/flats for those that aren't quite to that point yet.

I'm a BA music-level classical pianist and teacher, and I purchased this book 1.) to have beautiful, relaxing pieces to sit down and play easily for fun, and 2.) to have material to give to students looking for contemporary pieces. This book accomplishes both perfectly. I also own the "Islands" book, but this "Best Of" is my favorite. The only piece it's missing (in my opinion) is Nuvole Bianche. I also have experience playing from Seven Days Walking (Day One) and In A Time Lapse, and I'd choose Islands/Best Of before those ones. Reasons this book is my favorite above some of the others: - Style-wise, there's a little more of a variety compared to say, Seven Days Walking (Day One) or In A Time Lapse. - The pieces are a little shorter on average than the Islands book. - Difficulty is roughly the same as the Islands book, but this one has more pieces that land a little easier on the hands if you're not used to playing with large ranges of motion. -There are more pieces overall. - It stays open a liiiiitle easier than the other three mentioned above. Overall, so glad I purchased this book! Highly recommended for any late intermediate/early advanced pianist.

This book of contemporary music is absolutely gorgeous. Some of the pieces are sight readable and others require a little bit of work, but the melodies are just haunting. I would highly recommend this collection. He was a new composer to me and I’m so glad I discovered him!

After years of lessons and not practicing as much as I should, I am now an adult who can't play for an audience (just not good enough) but can certainly play for my own enjoyment. I saw another reviewer who said this book contained some of the easier pieces by this pianist and I would agree. I have several songs I have enjoyed in this book, and as a bonus, my family doesn't mind listening to them either. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

The corners of the cover and first few pages of this book were "puppy dogged" and the internal binding had been forced flat in several places , as if the pages had been photo copied. I don't believe this book is new and straight from the printers. However the damage is not significant enough to justify returning the book.

I absolutely love this book. I find it so relaxing to sit and play these pieces as they have just the right level of difficulty and repetitiveness. The pieces are absolutely beautiful and are really good at improving emotion in ones playing as it is required to make the pieces as emotive and varied as they are on the album. There are a good number of pieces in this book so i've been able to learn them all and yet still feel challenged. I'm of Grade 7 standard technically however I stopped having lessons a fairly long time ago so i'm not of that standard currently. I would say Grade 4/5+ would enjoy this book and I certainly have. The binding is not perfect as the middle pieces need propping open but the quality of the book otherwise is good.
