My cat is a bit of a snob when it comes to food. He eats better than I do and refuses to eat if you put anything even remotely low quality in front of him. Even for cat nip, he would only eat freshly cut that morning from a homegrown garden. He turns up his nose to any other cat nip (looks at wallet, sighs into hands & cries a little). But this he eats every time. His fur looks great and every time I take him to the vet it is smooth sailing. Well.. with the exception of him crying or me switching him to timed feeds instead of free feed because he gained some weight. But otherwise his poop looks good, fur is smooth & soft, and he eats well.

This is the best product ever, my cats love it. I actually have too buy some more. After a week you noticed my cat being more active. It was so nice seeing her move around and jumping.the ingredients are very clean my cats did not get sick as I transition them.

I was pretty happy with the dry food I had been feeding my two cats, but I wanted to give them something with more protein and fewer grains. Wet food just wasn’t realistic for me long term, so I thought this would be a healthier upgrade. I transitioned them slowly over two weeks like you’re supposed to. A few days into the switch, my male cat started having blood in his urine. I was worried, so I immediately switched him to wet food and a urinary supplement. His symptoms improved significantly, so I thought he was better. I tried reintroducing this food again, and within just one day his bleeding was much worse and he could barely pee. I rushed him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with a urinary infection and put on antibiotics. (I suspect crystals had already started forming by this point, I later learned crystals can be difficult to show up reliably in the an urinalysis.) I switched him back to wet food again, and he improved so much that he seemed almost back to normal. I wish I had stopped there. I tried this food one more time, and within 24 hours he became completely blocked. He had to be hospitalized. After $1,500 in emergency care, the vets found his urethra was packed with crystals. He almost died. We still don’t know if he’ll avoid surgery, and if he survives, he’ll be on a prescription urinary diet for life (just like another reviewer). Watching him go through this has been terrifying and heartbreaking. At the same time, my female cat also started showing symptoms, just more slowly. She began peeing outside the litter box, licking herself obsessively, and sometimes yowling in pain. She refuses wet food, so I switched her back to her old food and started a urinary supplement. Thankfully, she’s now back to normal. I confirmed with my vet that my male cat’s infection could not have been passed to her. The only thing that changed for either of them was this food. My vet even noted that it was strange both cats were affected when nothing else in their routine had changed, and said this food may very well have been the cause. Afterward, I looked up more reviews and realized I was not alone with the crystal issue. I also learned that higher protein foods can concentrate urine and increase the risk of crystals, especially in male cats, who are already more vulnerable. With both of my cats reacting badly, and food being the only change in their routine, I am convinced this product caused this nightmare. Please learn from my experience. A $50 BAG OF CAT FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE RISK. If you do try this food, please watch your cat’s litter box habits very closely: any straining, frequent trips, or blood in the urine is a medical emergency. If you have a male cat, or a cat prone to urinary issues, I beg you to stay far away from this food. I may lose my cat because of this food, and I wish more than anything that I had seen a review like this before it was too late.

I like the nutritional content, compared to other brands and our cat, Tember, does not like any other food.

I've been buying this for my 2 cats for a long time. Acana products are amazing. They consistently love it & they have smaller, less smelly poops. That is always a good thing! Can't say if its tasty, but they dig in!! Quality ingredients. Quality company. I have a 15lb Maine Coon Kitten! She can eat some food. I find she eats less and still fills up. That's quality for sure.
