Fine Book, Strange Ending
If you've read The Naked Woman, I must warn you that he repeats a lot of the things he said in that book (due to the fact that men and women do have some similarities). Otherwise, it is a nice book. The only bit which irks me is the last chapter of the book, where he offers an almost Freudian interpretation of homosexuality. It doesn't urk me because it offends me (I care for the truth no matter how it may hurt me or offend others), but because it seems completely wrong. I'm not a biologist, so take my word with a grain of salt, but I see no reason to believe that homosexuals are homosexual because they didn't outgrow a phase in their youth (which is what he suggests).

The Hairy Ape ......
An interesting study of sorts. But I would have been more interested if I were about 12 or 13. Desmond Morris has definitely caused a lot of interesting cocktail talk for my generation.

Satisfied
The book itself was in great shape. Images crisp and not worn. Have not read it yet but otherwise happy with the product.

Interesting
I definitely have grown to appreciate my body and the male form as a whole. Sometimes the descriptions are overly dramatic or the origins of certain things, that no one can really verify, are spoken of in very matter-of-fact manner as opposed to a more reasonable, "we think this is what happened given the information we have so far." Only time will tell if this love-letter to the human body becomes increasingly dated with time or if the overall sincerity of affection will allow this work to transcend

Most of the work provides interesting insights into gender signs and their meaning. There is however one rather puzzling statement in the chapter exploring the male beard. The notion that with the split between Eastern and Western Christianity that to mark their distinction the Eastern clergy were bearded and Western clean shaven is clearly false. While it is true that the clergy of the Eastern churches are always bearded, the reverse is not true for the clergy of the Western church. The statement that the popes are never bearded is disproved if one looks at any of the portraits of popes before the 18th century which were almost always bearded.

A valuable book for anyone who wants to expand its knowledge on the male body. Greatly informative it will make you see and better understand the male condition in nature and everyday life.

While somewhat repetitious of the material in "The Naked Woman", this is still an interesting read and provides some not so obvious insights into what makes the the homo sapiens sapiens male what he is. Recommended reading for every member of the species! (I am a member of this half of the species.)
