I took a chance and bought this sofa for my tri-fold futon frame to use as both a sofa and guest bed. It suits that purpose very well! The back supports fold by the foot of the frame and create a very intentional looking sofa. At this orientation, the futon seat is very deep and the angulation is somewhat steep so this may not be appropriate for people with back or knee problems to use as a regular sofa. I think it's more suitable as a bed because of its 6" foam padding combined with the raised futon platform. I highly recommend it for guests!

It only expanded to 4 1/2 inches the only thing that got close to 6 inches was the two back cushions you lean up against and they only expand it to 5 1/2 inches

I really wanted to love this the reviews sounded great, but it just wasn't comfortable. It was too low to the floor as well, didn't work for our company. After half a night I found them on the couch and then ended up having to use the airbeds for the remainder of their visit. Let down.
