Excellent Gyokuro
A delicate but delicious Gyokuro. Immediately, when I opened the pouch, I was satisfied by the robust and familiar Gyokuro, pleasant grassy smell. The consistency of the tea fragments is on par with the highest quality Gyokuro teas. Large tea pieces and very little tea dust compared to some other brands. Aroma is delicate, pleasant and a touch sour and earthy. Flavour is pleasant but again delicate, and I need a little bit more (one and a half rather than one tea spoon) to match the strength of best Gyokuro I have tried. Overall excellent value for money for a high quality Gyokuro.

Chocolate, pine, rich.
Superb gyokuru. Lovely chocolate and pine aroma out of packet. V rich flavour for this type of tea. A bit pricey but if you like gyokuru then the shizouka is one to try.

Interesting experience..
It's likely not anyones fault but my own, but honestly.... I was not expecting my kitchen to smell like a fishmongers after making a cuppa! I did a bit of research considering my ignorance and surprise at what I thought was an unusual experience.. By all accounts, "savoury" and "umami" when it comes to japanese greens pretty much translates to "seaweed". I can attest to the flavour as having a hint of seaweed, nothing like it smells (which is proper fishy and salty). I've tried steeping it at various temperatures with no luck in removing that particular flavour. Possibly you were interested in the product because you knew about that aspect, or maybe you think it sounds pleasant. Not for me... I'm going back to oolong and staying far away from this ๐
