Cholula brand hot sauce has been climbing the ladder of my Favorites List for quite a long time. Currently holding a strong, 2nd place right behind "Melinda's", simply because it provides a unique taste, a flavor profile that's hard to find in other products. So when Cholula's "Extra Hot" version was revealed to me & seemed reasonably priced, my next click was "Add to Cart". As an avid, daily hot sauce consumer, I was anxious to try the new Cholula flavor which promptly arrived by Amazon delivery. Not too hot, just about right. It’s perfect as an additive to my frequent indulgence of crispy chicken wings & flavor lacking soups. Reaching the bottom of the 5oz bottle WAS my only disappointment. Until... I decided to reorder & realized the price had risen 57% from what I had paid just 90 days earlier. For me, it's currently priced beyond the limits of my personal "cost-to-value" ratio. But then again, cost is not a concern for everyone. So if affordability is not an issue in your world, then I highly recommend you give this tasty product a try. Excellent Mexican style sauce. I was previously a fan of Valentina extra hot, just because it was the spiciest readily available mex style sauce that could be had cheaply for dumping all over tasty food. Cholula extra hot tastes roughly the same, but is hotter than Valentina extra hot. For those wondering about the heat level, it’s not as hot as el yucateco, but significantly hotter than regular cholula. Also noticeably hotter than Valentina extra hot, as well as regular Tabasco. Not as hot as Tabasco habenero. To my taste, it’s approximately as hot, when used like most people use salsa, as eating a very hot jalapeño or a regular Serrano raw. It’s my new go to mex style sauce for burritos, tacos, and many other things when I really want to pour it on. For everything else, el yucateco or Malinda’s habenero still reigns supreme delivering both flavor and heat. Although Malinda’s ghost pepper sauce has quickly started replacing the regular habenero. Malinda’s Belizian Heat is probably my all time favorite for flavor and perfect heat level to use in high quantities without uncomfortable levels of pain, but it’s hard to find around here. If your on the fence about cholulas extra hot thinking it’s not hot enough to justify the order over regular, think again, they really did make a significant change to the heat level without changing the familiar cholula flavor. Likewise if your unsure if it’s gonna be too hot for you, don’t worry, it’s not a face burner, but if your the type that worries about a regular pepper sauce being too spicy, than you will likely find this sauce a welcome and enjoyable challenge to your tastebuds without the pain associated with the next level of sauces that come after this.

This is some of the tastiest hot sauce I have at home. Great flavor, good heat, great consistency. If you like spice and love regular Cholula you should try this one!

I sent my husband out for some Cholula (the bottle was down to its last few precious drops) and he accidentally came back with the Extra Hot variety. I initially avoided, since "regular" Cholula has just the right level of heat. However, I recently sampled it on top of some poached eggs on sourdough toast and fell in love. It is slightly hotter, which means you can use less. The flavor is spicy, piquant, and a wee bit tart. My new favorite hot sauce. I've been using it in my 3 minute camping-friendly guacamole recipe (2 avocados, 1 large finely chopped shallot, salt/pepper to taste, full small lime, 1-2 tsps of X hot Cholula) and people always ask what the secret ingredient is. 2 stars for delivery, though. The first time I ordered, both bottles arrived cracked since they were shipped in a small box with zero padding. Amazon did promptly issue a refund, at least. Suggest ordering from Whole Foods or Amazon Grocery (or your local grocery store, if they have it) instead.

This is a tasty hot sauce. Great on eggs. And any Mexica foods. On the downside, it isn't as 'hot' as i had hoped. Still very good, though. I like it's flavor. I would say it's my second favorite.

I literally carry this in my purse. Really! Got a big surprised nod - “that’s great stuff!” - when eating in an authentic mex place recently. He was so surprised in a good way!! I ditched that nasty vinegar-water (unnamed ubiquitous brand) “hot” sauce years ago. Heat matters, but heat with flavor… that’s the real thing….

Everything I’ve tried by this company is very tasty, that includes this “extra hot” Cholula hot sauce. Is a bit hotter than other hot sauces by them, but still retains a wonderful flavor alongside its heat. I consider this hot not super hot. I recommend this for those who like a kick up in heat, but not so hot it fry’s your taste buds, food tastes still come thru nicely. It’s delicious…give it a try..

Love the Cholula brand. I’m so glad I got to send the extra spicy for when I’m feeling a little extra spicy. It’s got that extra kick without taking away any of the flavor like some of the other brands.
