This little paper towel holder is actually very sturdy. I didn’t expect much from it but it has been holding the giant industrial size paper towel rolls that go inside a dispenser because we go through tons of paper towels.

It looks just like the picture and was easy to assemble (just screw two pieces together). The only downside is that I think it may break easy, but for the price, I’m not mad about it. It serves its purpose (pretty well),so I’d consider it a win.

As much as I love it, the hole in the bamboo portion, where the screw is to be, was stripped.

This is a very minimalist paper towel holder, and I like the clean black-and-brown look on my counter. The base is bamboo wood with a matte brown finish, and the upright rod is black iron. The size is about 30.5 cm tall with a 16.5 cm base, so a regular paper towel roll sits on the holder properly. Assembly was just screwing the black rod into the base. Once the roll is on, the holder keeps the paper towels upright and off the counter, which is what I wanted. The one thing to know is that the base is very light at about 0.3 kg. If I pull a sheet with one hand, the whole holder comes with it, even with the non-slip bottom. I need to hold the base or the roll with one hand while tearing a piece with the other. So yes, the holder looks good and holds the roll, but the base could use more weight. It’s simple and pretty, as long as I remember that the base is light when I tear a sheet.

Ok I’ve used this for a good month now. Our family tends to use a fair amount of paper towels so we could really put this to the test. Initially what I liked was the base stain matched our kitchen cupboards. It looks good. It’s a simple streamlined design. Assembly was a snap. You simply screw in the post to the base and voila. It’s very light weight but easily holds a roll of paper towel in place. As we began to use it however we realized its light weight meant you really need two hands. One to hold the unit steady otherwise you would pull it over and the other hand to pull off sheet. When changing rolls you also realize the main post is easily bent and so you need to be careful. At a reasonable price this holder does deliver as advertised. That said, its main benefit may be in its aesthetics. Great for lower/casual paper towel use. If however you have a larger family of power users this unit may prove to be more frustrating in practical use. You can’t do a one handed grab and tear. A weightier unit may be a better choice.
