Ethique Scalp Health Shampoo Bar for itchy, dry, flaky scalps with Oatmeal - Plastic-Free, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, 3,88 oz - Formerly Heali Kiwi

Took a while for me to get used to the new crescent shape, but if you hold it with the inward curve of the crescent against your hair, the bar lasts a lot longer, more so even than the previous block did. The shampoo works well for me and my daughters, and we all have different hair textures. One has thick, wavy, somewhat coarse hair, the other smooth and straight, and I’m somewhere in the middle, but this shampoo always leaves our hair soft and lovely. I have a sensitive scalp that tends to get itchy with harsher shampoos, but this one calms it right down. Love the scent as well; it’s gentle and doesn’t linger in our hair. Cleans well without drying us out and leaves our hair shiny, soft, and easy to brush. Love it!

I found this product while looking for something natural without a bunch of added ingredients. Ive also had eczema my while life and this has been a great solution for my dry skin. The smell is fresh but moderate (not overwhelming) and it produces the right amount of suds. Though the value was good -- will definitely buy again!

Like most responsible citizens of planet earth I’m trying to make green changes in my life, and I finally decided to try bar shampoo — and I’m so glad I did! Apparently so is my brother — who stole the bar, making me have to replace it with a shampoo and conditioner set. I have a hodgepodge of curly hair — a mix from 2c to 3c — making care for it a bit of a chore, so switching from my normal bottled hair care to the bar was a little scary, but seems to have turned out well! The lather is luxurious, and smells so good. My hair felt soft, clean, moisturized, and had its healthy shine. Having just received my second order from Ethique, I haven’t tried the conditioner yet since this order was only shampoo — but with how the shampoo preformed, I’m so excited now that my bottles are completely empty. I have high hopes for this becoming my go to brand. It’s pricey, but I think the value is there. Especially since it’s helping Mother Earth.

Scalp no longer itches. Fresh smell. Takes up much less room than a bottle of liquid shampoo. Long lasting. Easy to apply and lather up.

The good: I love the way this shampoo (Heali Kiwi) cleans my hair, and I love being able to pack a solid shampoo for extended travel. The bad: This bar does not last a full 80 uses for me. The first two photos are right out of the package. The last photo is what was left after 48 uses. I have thick, shoulder length hair, and I find that I need to rub the bar directly on my hair to get a good lather. I let the bar dry completely in between uses on a soap dish with drainage slats. I think the original square shape may last slightly longer, as the crescent shape’s ends break off more easily as it gets thinner. If you have a buzz cut, this would probably last 80 uses. Once the bar gets to little pieces like this, I find it much more difficult to rub and lather. Overall, this is a good splurge for my summer travels, but I’m not sure that I would choose it for everyday use due to the price per use.

My eldest 13 yo daughter and I have been having VERY itchy, flaky, scalps (we look like we're snowing one day post shower) and have tried various shampoos with Tea Tree and Castor oil with continuous, severe, itching/flaking. I really didn't want to use head and shoulders as she reacts poorly to many chemicals. Her hair looks very flaky/greasy while mine is more dry/flaky so I wasn't sure if it would work on both types of hair BUT this shampoo bar has worked the best with immediate relief for both of us! I'd say 97% less itching and flakes and hair feels clean but not dried out. I love the new shape of the bars as they are easy to grip and not drop when wet. Very happy and will continue to purchase!

I’ve been a happy Ethique customer for years, and dragged my feet on writing this review, because I hate to give them a bad rap when they get so much right. First, the great: fabulous shampoo that lathers easily, gets my hair clean, rinses completely out, and is gentle, all while being eco-friendly. Now, the not so great: recently Ethique did a revamp of their products, and in the process changed the shape of the shampoo bars to a crescent moon. It’s admittedly adorable for instagram photos, but really terrible in practical terms. Most importantly, the shampoo bars no longer fit in any of the travel soap dishes I’ve tried. Given that one of the reasons I like bar shampoo is how easy it is to take on trips, this “improvement” in shape is anything but. If you never travel ever, or don’t bother taking your shampoo with you when you do… this is a 5 star review. But if you travel with your shower regimen, the size and shape of the bar is reason enough for me to advise that you look elsewhere for bar shampoo. I can’t in good conscience recommend a product that makes me pause every time I go to buy it because I’m thinking, “…it’s so annoying, maybe I’d be happier with that other brand that’s shaped like an oval, sphere, or square.” I really hate that I have to cut the bar in pieces if I’m unlucky enough to need a new bar right before I go on a trip.

I have now used the bar several times and it is a great product in every way. The crescent shape bar fits perfectly in an open hand and is a very clever design. The lather was wonderful, plenty for a good scalp massage (and I have thick, though short hair). The amount of time it took to lather up was much faster than another shampoo bar I have used. It (the other bar) seemed effective at moisturizing my scalp but it look a long time to work up enough lather for my thick hair.) I've tried several others, liquid and bars for dry, itchy scalp (not necessarily dandruff) that were okay. But this is incredibly effective with great lather and a wonderful shape for your hands. It is without a doubt a 'keeper'. And I'm not using a cream rinse after shampooing. I towel dry, and use a styling cream then let it continue air-drying. Oh, wow, that's the making of healthy, natural hair. (I never used color or permed my hair. It's beautiful gray as God aged it. I love that there are other formulas I can suggest to friends and family. Ruth Jackins
