Really tasty ple. They dont have a lot of meat but the gravy is delicious. Ideal for a quick meal. I think £2.50 is not too much to pay if you dont want a heavy meal, once you added the vegetables you have a tasty dinner.the pie looks good and the pastry rises as it cooks to a light flaky top crust. Cooks in 30 minutes. I consider it good value for money and have a variety of the pies.

You really can’t beat a Fray Bentos for convenience. It’s the perfect "emergency" meal to keep in the cupboard for when you want something hot and filling without any effort. The puff pastry lid is definitely the highlight—it rises really well in the oven and gets that classic flaky, golden finish. The chicken filling is decent, with a good amount of gravy that soaks into the bottom layers of the pastry. Just a tip: make sure you use a good tin opener to get the lid off cleanly, and leave it in for the full recommended time to make sure the pastry in the middle cooks through. For a quick, nostalgic dinner that hits the spot every time, it’s great value.

These pies are useful to keep in the cupboard for a quick meal. Not a lot of meat, more like a gravy pie but they are tasty and not much money.

First and last time I ever buy these horrible pies. Ruined our only two can openers trying to open the tin, they barely even pierced the lid. We ended up having to use heavy-duty metal-cutting scissors - even then it took ages and left dangerous jagged edges. There wasn't even a full pie in there, just some sloppy stuff that looked like cat food and one top layer of raw pastry instead of a proper pie with a base! We cooked it for 45 minutes and then ended up having to throw it in the bin as the pastry still wasn't cooked through and it looked inedible! What an absolutely pointless waste of money, I regret buying two. If you're storing some of these for an apocalypse, make sure you also have an angle grinder to get into them.
