Surprisingly tasty even if it's not pretty
So, I mixed up my matcha mochi according to the directions. I opted to mix everything rather than saving some of the powder as a topping. It came out... pretty much as slime. My hope was not high. I've had mochi before, though not matcha flavor, so I know the texture it's supposed to have - a little sticky, solid-ish (softer than a gummy bear, more like Turkish delight), and quite chewy. This was not that. I'm not sure if saving part of the matcha powder for the outside would make it solid enough to cut into squares, but I doubt it. I was able to separate it into parts by wiggling a spoon through it, but it's never going to look like the cute little squares on the package. All that said - the taste is actually quite good. It's a nice mix of smooth (not bitter) matcha flavor with a subtle sweetness that doesn't go overboard. The texture is off, but it's very much like it would be if you'd chewed mochi for a little while. If you can get over it not looking so pretty - or if you've got a matcha-loving kid who doesn't mind eating "gross" looking things! - this could be a fun little treat to make together.

Small & overpriced
This product was so very small for the price I paid. I barely made enough to share with another person. It also did not settle well in its shape or texture. It just looks like a deflated jelly blob.

Super soft matcha mochii
This was super easy to prepare, but because it's a blob, it's impossible to cut them into squares like the listing picture. It's sweet enough for me, but the texture is very soft. Not like the mochi I'm used to which is more chewy, this one is super soft and a little chewy, not firm enough I think. It's an ok treat, but not worth the high price.

Mochi blob
I followed the directions for this mochi step by step: open the two packets and pour into a bowl. Add 1/4 cup water. Mix vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Oops... There's a fourth step that says to save some of the powder for after slicing it. What I got was a sticky gelatinous blob that did not solidify nearly enough to slice. The water amount must be off or something. Sorry but the directions need to be fixed. As far as the flavor goes, it tasted like matcha. Not sweet at all. This was inedible and went down the drain.

Edible flubber
This matcha mochi was easy to prepare, just combine the two packets, add water and mix. It becomes a gelatinous blob, very flubber-y. We moved ours to a cutting board to shape it a bit and cut it into pieces. It has good matcha flavor and a surprisingly pleasant mouth texture, very good. It just doesn't hold in such a way we could form nicely shaped square pieces as pictured. A win for taste and texture, a fail on visual appeal, so 4 stars.

New To Me
My main experience with mochi has been those dough-like fruit confections you can buy in stores; and this is very much like that. Kind of a green-tea look, these work best if you slowly add the water until you achieve the right consistency otherwise it has a very unappealing texture and is less pleasant to consume. Otherwise, though, an excellent product.

Interesting
This MINOYA WARABIMOCHI mochi kit is very easy to prepare. After trying several of these mochi candies, I was excited to try this out for myself. That said, I don't know how they get theirs to come out in square shapes.

This was a miss
I wasn't really sure what to expect trying this mochi. I knew it wouldn't be like the kind you find in the store, but I wasn't expecting this mess. As other reviewers have said, the amount of water needed in this are incorrect. It became this swamp green clumpy gelatinous mess that did not hold it's shape. I love everything matcha so I was really looking forward to this, but I think the directions need to be adjusted.
