You can use this like an auto-harp.
I tuned this to chords. I wanted an auto-harp sound. I tuned the lowest 5 strings to C,E,G,C,C. (I doubled the top C because it blends with the next chord.) Strings 6-10 A,C,F,A,A. Strings 11-15 G,B,D,D,G. Many songs can be accompanied with the three resulting chords (C chord, F chord, G chord). You play each chord on four of the strings. The doubled notes blend with either adjacent chord, providing a buffer between. The tuning given in the instructions is just a chromatic major scale, so you can only pick out melodies. I was ready to return this, but the chords worked out.

Great tool for teaching note-reading
As a piano teacher, I use these zither-type instruments with their slide-in sheet music to teach the students to read music graphically. It's a fun reward at the end of a lesson, or a great frustration-breaker in the middle. I love it that these have nylon strings instead of metal - so much easier to tune. No case, but we keep using the sturdy box with its handle as a case. Tuning wrench and pick included.

Stressed out our piano and music teachers! Could NOT get it to stay tuned for more than 5 minutes!
Extrememly disappointing :-( I have kids from 4-10 taking music lessons, and especially for my little ones, I was thinking this would be a fun addition to their musical toys and instruments at home. We got this for Christmas, and it sounded awful -- playing the songs included and they were nearly unrecognizable. But we recognized that it just desperately needed a tuning, and since I don't have an ear for it, we asked our piano and music teachers to take a look at it. They both tried tuning it -- could get it perfectly tuned, and within 5-10 minutes it sounded AWFUL again. Our poor piano teacher tried and tried and tried -- one afternoon she tuned it no less than 15 times, and she was shocked how she could tune it, get it sounding great, set it down and come back five minutes later and it was totally out of tune again. She said she'd never seen anything like this. I feel bad both music teachers invested so much of their time into trying to get it to work for my kids, I think they were both just excited about it like we were, and were so disappointed that they couldn't come up with a way for it to even be usable for them. I would've loved to return it, but sadly (and this was our own fault), by the time we realized how hopeless this harp was, we'd already thrown out all the boxes and paperwork with the Christmas boxes. :-( I was just really disappointed, because I thought I was getting something higher quality than this, not just some $10 plaything that I shouldn't expect anything of . . . the kids are disappointed that no matter how hard they try or practice, they can't play a song that sounds good at all.

I like it but it needs significant tuning.
Got this for my girls. Over all the product is made very well and is sturdy. My girls really like it. My only complaint is that its WAY out of tune and will need significant tuning. The songs that come with it don't even sound close its so out of tune. Going to take it to the music shop this week to see if they can help me.

So fun! Once!
I tuned this once and it took me over an hour with my toddler at my side trying to help and play it before it was ready. This little instrument is so cool, but it gets detuned so quickly. I haven’t retuned it since, lots of time and effort that goes down the drain in less than 10 minutes of toddler strumming.

nice sound & quality
Beautiful sound, especially considering that it's my 3 and 6 year olds playing! The 6 year old can play the sheet music that slides under the strings. The 3yo mostly just strums, though he did follow along on one of the simpler songs once. It needs a good bit of tuning (several of the strings are never tight enough when we play again a day after tuning), but it's a simple and quick job.

Surprisingly good toy for infant who liked to grab guitars
We removed the small parts (picks) and used this in the baby's room. He wanted to play our guitar before, but now has this harp. Since 9 months he has used it. We planned to mount it to the wall, but it's been working out on a low stool or floor. Adults love to strum it too. It's very relaxing. It sounds even better tuned but goes out of tune each play time. But it is still relaxing when not perfectly tuned!

It is very sturdy, has great sound quality
This is an excellently made product. I mean, a REAL musical instrument that my boys are enjoying. It even has the tool and instructions on how to properly tune it! It is very sturdy, has great sound quality, and the sheet music makes it easy for all three of my boys to play. It has encouraged them to learn other stringed instruments!

Doesn’t stay in tune
We spent at least 45 mins tuning the harp, and it took less than that amount of time for it to go out of tune again. It’s fine for our 8 month old to strum with her fingers but not useful for actually playing songs on.
