This works with my old batteries BL 1815
This works with my old batteries (BL1815) and charged them with no issues at all. I don't know the longevity of this product, but it looks and feels very similar to the original Makita charger. I think this is a great value around $25.00, considering I had lost my old charger in a move and did not want to by new drills.

Protective Cover Prevents Inserting Battery to charge...
received the item on time. But I am unable to charge any battery due to the charging plates being covered with a hard plastic protector. We have tried to remove this 'protector' using many different methods and it just refuses to budge. There is nothing in the instructions that mention this 'protector' and how to remove it in order to insert a battery. This is my second attempt to buy a charger from Amazon for my Makita - The The first order (different vendor) just never arrived after waiting over 3 weeks for a 2-day delivery. And now, UNFORTUNATELY, since we cannot insert a batter into the charger I will be returning this one. Not a happy camper.
