What is the life expectancy (NOT run time) of the battery?

They are warrantied for 3 years so about 37 months. 
But seriously, without a catastrophic failure they could last many years past the warranty just at an increasingly diminished capacity. The biggest problem is that the multiple cells inside the battery degrade at different rates and the weakest cell is always the most stressed. Fast charging and high current demand usage also increase stress, the main indicator is heat. If you push the batteries until they are hot (charging or discharging) degradation occur more quickly. Running batteries hard below 20% of charge causes degradation. Basically the increasing internal resistance from a low state of charge or from degradation will causes the batteries to heat up more quickly and excessive heat destroys the batteries.

How can i ensure ego products purchased on amazon are covered by ego’s warranty?

The fact is there is no EGO warranty unless the product is sold by an authorized sell.  Amazon is not.  The description describes the actual warranty.  I got stung buy here.  Buy from Lowes or other authorized seller.=s and get the warranty.  Avoid this recycled junk.

Can i take this on a plane?  tsa regulations limit 1 battery up to 300 watt hours.  thanks.

Let's  figure  this out  ...56 volt X 5amps =280 Watt hours.  Close to the  limit. .  I would call ahead to  make  sure  it is  OK.
