Nice bench, reasonable quality, good wood and good method of assembly. This is a nice bench. For the price I think it’s good value. Comes flat packed in a box ready for self assembly. The wood is good and the bench is sturdy and well made. The seat and back are all finished assembled so all you hade to do is fit them to the arms. Assembly instructions are good and it’s pretty obvious where everything goes. The instructions advise glueing every joint with pva glue which is provided in a little pot. I didn’t use this as I already had a squeezy bottle of Gorilla wood glue in the house-so I used that. As you assemble, the joints are secured by a couple of supplied teak dowels in each joint, again glued and hammered in. This means that all joints are secured by this method, although they supply screws which again secures all the joints afterwards. Overall I’m very pleased with this bench. It looks great, it’s comfortable and sturdy. I bought the three seater version. I paid an extra £10 for next day delivery, which was by APC Overnight couriers. On the delivery day I tracked and monitored the drivers route and as it got closer to home, my wife and I got ready to receive it. All of a sudden we got a message stating “delivery attempted”!…. No way-we were both watching the road outside and no delivery vehicle. I called the delivery depot twice and complained, and was told on both occasions that the driver would come back and deliver that same day. All lies!!! Delivery finally arrived the next day, fortunately my wife was at home waiting as I again tracked it. No ring on the bell, no knock at the door, the driver delivered our bench by standing it up against the wall of the house and was only discovered when my wife went outside to check. Absolute rubbish service and a waste of £10 and an afternoon taken off work! I was able to carry the box to the back garden myself so not too bad to lift and handle, but easier with 2 people to save struggling. Also purchased a seat cushion, not necessarily needed as the bench is nice to sit on, but just to make it a little more comfortable. We love our new bench, just a shame about the delivery company….

Although flat pack in 4 components that need assembly . Joints are mortice and tenon. Dowels made from the same timber are supplied along with required screws. It went together easily although I had to use my own wood glue as the enclosed glue had gone off. Treated with teak oil and it looks lovely. I believe it should stand up to the rigours of Welsh weather with its sturdy design that offers comfortable seating capacity for 3 I would say.

Wonderful and stable bench!

Support from the vendor is very good. I initially put the bench together without the benefit of instructions which I didn't find until I opened a small box entitled "Hardware" so I took it apart again and followed the instructions. I discovered that the glue for the dowels was not essential but could only find sites for four of the eight screws provided. The vendor told me of a design change which meant only four were now required and promised to have the instructions amended. To be honest as a 74 year old, I found no problem assembling the bench without instructions and the only time I required help was finishing knocking in the dowels. I needed to sit on the bench to support the joint while my son-in-law hammered them in the last 2-4 mm using a hammer and a piece of hard wood to protect the bench. For my part in the procedure I had just used a rubber mallet, which nearly got them in but just left them marginally proud. the final result was a very secure bench which looks great in the garden.

Quality bench, mortise and tenon construction which is glued and doweled

Ordered this last Autumn so reviewed after it had been out in the garden uncovered and exposed to the elements for the Winter. An excellent garden bench of well finished quality hardwood that all fits together with no problems. And then stays put together! Self assembly in half a morning or less was a doddle but be aware the flat packed part-assembled items are weighty so an extra pair of hands could be a help. Six months later, no warps or cracking but an attractive slightly faded weathering now developing. It is sturdy but with enough 'flex' if placed on somewhat uneven lawns. A great investment and I would expect years of good service...

It's a nice sturdy bench. All of the main parts line up and fit well. Delivery prompt Nothing missing However as others have written, you'll need to buy some glue because the amount supplied is barely adequate for the dowels. The only snag was with the dowel holes. Poor machining and alignment meant that the first one I hammered in wouldn't go in far enough. The holes don't align or are insufficiently deep. After that I carefully drilled each one with a 7.5mm or 8mm bit making sure I didn't drill too far and make a hole straight through. At least subsequent dowels fitted ok and didn't sit proud of the surface. The top of the first one got crushed and I doubt it engaged with the inner hole in the side frame.
