This was the present that made my grandson forget all the others at his birthday party. He has a big pump action nerf gun that he really liked, but it was always jamming and was a bit big for a 4 year old anyway. With just a little instruction, he was breaking this on over to cock it, putting the darts in the cylinders and having two quick shots before he reloads. It seems to about the same or slightly harder than the nerf, is reasonbly accurate and looks similar to the real thing. He is able to do it without help from an adult and his two year old brother hasn't figured out how to use it which is the biggest plus of all. He has played with it for a few weeks now and it isn't broken yet. I think it will hold up pretty good if he doesn't act like a child and do something silly to break it. I do worry that he could shoot someone in the eye with it. If the little rubber end of the dart hit the eye, it would be very painful and could be even worse. It doesn't seem to be any worse than the competition, but that is the risk with any toy like this. I was shooting Red Ryder BB guns when I was a little older and never shot anyone, but you have to know your kid and supervise them enough to help limit accidents like that. Looking down the barrel and pulling the trigger wouldn't end well. Some kids and even adults may not ever be ready for a toy like this.

Very small size, plastic is thin and not durable for longevity. Pieces don’t fit seamlessly and feels very cheaply made.

I've never seen a gun like this that loads giant shells. This thing is pretty fun. I have had a piece bust on it, but it's a $28 gun. It's not the easiest to load and get off a ton of rounds, but it has been fun to have laying around to pick up and fire off a few shots at each other. If you're entering war, you'll definitely wanted a better fire rate.
