Process Recess collects the art of James Jean. From his travelogue-sketchbooks of Vienna, London, New York, LA and Taiwan to his finished illustrations and paintings, we get to see a side of the artist that most have not seen. James's artwork blends media such as watercolor, oils, computer work, and sketching ― all of which is collected here in a beautiful hardcover format. Review: WISH IT WAS STILL IN PRINT - This book really should go back in print. As a huge James Jean fan myself, i willing bought a second hand version for a few hundred dollars. I know.. I know.. very pricey decision but i thought it was all worth it. This book is actually very small, but contains a distillation of James's earlier works. It really gives you an insight into his ideas and developments during the earlier stages of his career, and let me just say that this guy was indeed incredibly talented. His sketches and earlier works reflect a surrealism and cross culture influence that is still prevalent in his newer and more refined works today. To sum up this book " Today i continue to struggle with the shape of things, imagined and invisible, to condense the spectrum of experience into technicolor. My conviction wavers: A step forward, a step back, indeterminate future and past- there is PROCESS, and there is a RECESS" - James Jean thus the title Process Recess. Review: ちゃんと、基礎のある人が。描きたい物を描くと。。凄い！ - アメコミのフェイブルスや、バットマン。 有名なところではバットガールやスターウォーズ なんかのカバーアートを手掛けているジェイムズ氏の 海外旅行時のラフスケッチや、カラーイラストを 端から端まで詰め込んだ横長の赤いオシャレな本です サイズ的にはポストカードを少し伸ばした位でしょうか？ 版権イラストは入っていないのでそちらのファンの 方々には少し物足りないかもしれません。。しかし それを置いてもこの値段で購入出来るのであれば 買っても損はないかなと思います。だってココで 購入出来るようになるまで有名本屋さんやユーザーの 方たちが二万とか三万とかで平気で売ってましたからね・笑 作者はHPで全てのイラスト（！）を展示しているのでそちらを チェックして興味のある人はバックです！バック！！

the paper quality is terrible.
I am a huge fan of James Jean, I was very excited about purchasing this book. When I got it, I opened it, I did know It was a small book but I was disappointed about the quality paper. the printing quality is not good enough, you barely see the shapes and the excellent imagination of James Jean but not in great quality. It's a gorgeous book but the printing quality should be the best compared with the price…

Wish my sketchbook looked like this.
As always JJ doesn't fail to impress and inspire. The book was smaller than I expected, I was too excited to get it I didn't read the full description.
